As a chemist at REMONDIS in the Hazardous Waste department, you will have the opportunity to combine advanced assessment of hazardous waste with the establishment of practical laboratory operations, sampling, and customer contact. With us, you will work closely with our customers and support them in matters related to practical handling, compliance with regulations, and interpretation of legal frameworks. Many of our customers conduct laboratory operations, which means that your expertise is not only appreciated – it is often absolutely necessary.

In the role of chemist, you will be responsible for assessing different types of hazardous waste according to current regulations for the transport of dangerous goods and guidelines for how the waste should be treated. The work is varied, and you will move between analysis, sampling, documentation, and customer dialogue – with tasks driven by both customer and facility needs.

The position as a chemist means that your theoretical knowledge of chemistry is combined with a lot of practical work in the field and at our facility in Hisings Backa. You will work with many types of hazardous waste from educational activities, research activities, and both private and public sectors. The assessment of hazardous waste concerns how the waste should be transported according to the regulations for dangerous goods and acceptance criteria for different types of treatment. To assess how the waste should be treated, sampling and reception controls are included in the tasks.

• Assess hazardous waste according to applicable legislation and treatment techniques

• Ensure correct classification according to regulations for dangerous goods

• Assess acceptance criteria for different treatment methods

• Take representative samples of various materials

• Perform simpler analyses and tests

• Ensure quality throughout the recycling process

• Conduct reception controls of incoming materials

• Follow up on deviations and ensure correct treatment of materials

• Provide customers with practical guidance on hazardous waste handling

• Support customers in compliance and relevant regulatory matters

• Be a knowledge support in matters related to laboratory operations and chemical handling

• Post-secondary education at university level in chemistry

• Driver's license B

• ADR certification/1.3 training.

• Driver's license C

• Previous experience in lecturing activities

• Previous experience working with waste or hazardous waste

• Experience in risk assessing chemicals to be handled practically

• Good ability to work collaboratively with others.
