JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to work with our citizens to help them achieve self-sufficiency?

We are now looking for a social worker for a permanent position and a social worker for a summer substitute position within the Unit for Work and Income. We offer the advantages of a smaller municipality with close leadership and short decision-making paths, where each employee has a significant impact on the whole.

In your role as a social worker, you will handle applications for financial assistance, i.e., you will investigate, assess, and make decisions regarding the right to assistance according to current legislation and practice. Support in your work includes case conferences with colleagues and external supervision. As part of your introduction, you will also receive a mentor to support you in your daily work.

Your workplace will be at Vimmerby City Hall, just a few minutes' walk from the station, which has good commuting options by train and bus.

The permanent position will be filled as soon as possible or by agreement, and the substitute position will run over the summer period of 2026 from the beginning of June to the end of August, by agreement. Please specify in your application which position you are interested in.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a degree in social work or another higher education that the employer considers equivalent
• Has experience in social work and authority exercise within financial assistance
• Is confident and self-sufficient in using digital tools and computer programs
• Has very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written
• Has a B driver's license

Meritorious:

• Experience with the operational system Lifecare

We are looking for someone who is confident, has good personal maturity, and an interest and willingness to work with people. We value good communication skills in your interactions with applicants, being able to listen attentively, be clear, and use low-arousal responses when necessary.

You will work independently with investigations regarding the right to financial assistance and with social change work aimed at mobilizing and developing the individual's own abilities. You will collaborate with other units within the Social Administration as well as with other authorities and stakeholders to ensure that applicants can find sustainable solutions in their lives as quickly as possible. You have a knack for building good relationships with both clients and partners.

You drive the work forward and can work independently, maintaining structure and timelines even in unprepared situations and busy periods. Being meticulous, motivating, and communicating decisions made are seen as important skills.
