Communicator for the Organization
Do you want to work with communication that makes a difference and contribute to developing NKJT's visibility, impact, and relationships with our target groups? We are now looking for a communicator who combines strategic thinking with operational effectiveness.
As a communicator at NKJT, you will play a central role in the organization's communication efforts alongside another communicator. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing communication initiatives across multiple channels. The role is broad and suits you who enjoy both developing strategies and producing content yourself.
We are looking for someone who works in a structured manner and has the ability to drive your work forward with high reliability. You meet deadlines and communicate proactively about changes or obstacles. You are solution-oriented and take independent responsibility for ensuring tasks are completed with quality. You have a holistic view of communication, are curious about the needs of the target groups, and have the ability to see how communication can develop and improve over time.
The work includes, among other things, web, social media, printed materials, and other external communication. You will act as a spider in the web and collaborate closely with colleagues and external actors.
We offer a varied and developing role in an organization where communication is an important part of the operations and where you have the opportunity to influence and shape the communication work. The position is 100% and is temporary until 2027 with the possibility of extension. The position is primarily based in Stockholm, but applicants from other locations are also welcome to apply and may be considered depending on skills and personal suitability.
Your Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and follow up on communication initiatives
- Develop communication plans and formulate communication goals
- Produce target group-adapted content for web, social media, and print
- Be responsible for and develop the website in WordPress
- Coordinate communication initiatives and contribute to projects
- Ensure accessibility in communication (web and PDF)
- Analyze the effects of communication work and identify development needs
- Develop intranet and internal communication
Your Profile
To succeed and feel secure in the job, we wish that you meet the following profile (requirements):
- Share NKJT's vision and values
- Have education in media and communication, journalism, social sciences, or similar, or equivalent work experience
- Fully master Swedish and sign language
- Possess deaf competence, e.g., personal experience of being deaf or good knowledge of the living conditions, language, and culture of the deaf
- Have experience working with communication
- Have a good ability to write clear and target group-adapted texts
- Have experience in communication planning and coordination
- Have good knowledge of Adobe CC, especially InDesign and Photoshop
- Have experience working in WordPress
- Have the ability to work both strategically and operationally
- Driver's license: B (not required but desirable)
Meritorious qualifications:
- Experience in opinion-forming communication, media contacts, and press work
- Experience in social media and content production for various platforms
- Basic knowledge of graphic design and image editing
- Experience in project management
- Knowledge of analysis and follow-up of communication initiatives
- Knowledge of violence in close relationships and violence in various forms against children, LGBTQI, honor-related violence, and oppression
Characteristics You Have to Thrive with Us
- You work in a structured manner and have the ability to drive your work forward with high reliability.
- You meet deadlines and communicate proactively about changes or obstacles.
- You are solution-oriented and take independent responsibility for ensuring tasks are completed with quality.
- You have a holistic view of communication, are curious about the needs of the target groups, and have the ability to see how communication can develop and improve over time.
We Offer
- A meaningful and developing job: You will have the opportunity to influence and shape communication work that makes a difference for deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind women and non-binary individuals who have been, are, or are at risk of being subjected to violence in close relationships.
- A rewarding work environment: You will work in a humane and developing environment. Our aim is to have a team with a high ceiling and lack of prestige, with a positive and pleasant work environment for everyone.
- A workplace with security and good working conditions: You are covered by a collective agreement and offered wellness benefits. We apply goal-oriented working hours.
- The position involves both office work and on-call duty. There may be work in the evenings and weekends as well as travel in the job.
- We conduct background checks on the final candidate.
Application
We place great emphasis on personal qualities and suitability. Interviews will be conducted with candidates who meet the competency requirements and experience. Selection and interviews will be ongoing, with the ambition for a quick appointment.
Send your application with CV and cover letter to [email protected] as soon as possible as we are conducting ongoing selections, but no later than 3/3. Please indicate "Application Communicator" in the subject line.

About the National Women's Shelter and Support in Sign Language
The National Women's Shelter and Support in Sign Language, NKJT, has been Sweden's leading competence center and the only support and service organization focused on deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind children, youth, women, non-binary individuals, and others who have been, are, or are at risk of being subjected to violence, or who need support in Swedish sign language since 2019. With our expertise in sign language and violence victimization, we offer qualified conversational support, assistance in contacts with authorities, and, when necessary, sign language-protected accommodation in close collaboration with social services. We also run two online-based shelters in sign language – one for children and youth and one for women and girls as well as non-binary individuals experiencing violence. As a national competence center in this area, we spread knowledge and experiences to improve support for sign language users across the country.

Open to All We focus on your competence, not your other circumstances. We are open to adapting the role or workplace to your needs.
