Legal Advisor – Vänersborg District Court

The district court is a modern workplace with centrally and beautifully located premises in Vänersborg. In 2027, the court will receive new and suitable premises in central Vänersborg. The court is divided into three adjudicating departments and one administrative department. Department 1 is a general department that handles criminal cases, civil cases, bankruptcies, general court matters, and enforcement matters. Departments 2 and 3 are environmental courts that handle, among other things, issues related to permits for environmentally hazardous activities and water activities, as well as reviewing decisions from county administrative boards and municipalities regarding matters related to the Environmental Code and the Planning and Building Act. The court also handles property cases that have been appealed to the court from the Land Survey Authority and water and sewage cases.

At the district court, judges, technical advisors, clerks, legal advisors, trainees, court administrators, and administrative staff serve.

Job Description

A legal advisor at the environmental court handles cases and matters together with judges, technical advisors, and court administrators. The tasks are varied and independent, and a large part of the work is carried out under one's own responsibility. The work as a legal advisor requires a fundamentally good legal competence and offers good opportunities to broaden and deepen this within several dynamic areas of law. At the court, case work is mainly digital.

Your main tasks:

  • take preparatory actions in cases
  • conduct legal research
  • present cases
  • act as the minute-taker at oral hearings
  • write proposals for decisions

As a legal advisor, you have a central and driving role in the work and a significant responsibility for ensuring that cases are resolved with high quality and efficiency. Since the court has a large jurisdiction area, travel with overnight stays is included, and a driver's license is desirable.

Qualifications

  • You have a law degree (of 270 credits)
  • You are qualified as a trainee lawyer
  • You have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
  • You have good computer skills, including the Office suite, other document management systems, and the ability to work in a digital environment

It is advantageous to have:

  • Experience from independent legal work, preferably within the areas of law of the environmental court
  • Experience in independently preparing cases or matters within an administrative authority or court
  • Experience in various areas of law of the environmental court
  • A documented interest in environmental law

Personal Qualities

To succeed in the role of legal advisor, it is crucial that you can work independently and efficiently, are analytical and meticulous, and can collaborate with others and relate to the environment in a flexible and attentive manner. Furthermore, you have a good ability to plan and organize your work, independently prioritize among your tasks, and achieve results by working towards set goals. It is important to be responsible and able to communicate clearly in both speech and writing and handle IT systems effectively. A very good judgment is central. Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities.

Employment Conditions

Fixed-term employment for 12 months. The court applies individual salary setting.
