This includes balancing pressing societal interests and resolving goal conflicts. The board has a broad and multifaceted mission regarding tasks and subject areas. The agency's main tasks include permit assessments, supervision, knowledge dissemination, and coordination within many societal areas. We have about 230 employees, and our manager is the governor.
If you are interested in societal issues and want to contribute to the development of Värmland County, you may be the right person for us.
Description
The position of Accounting Manager is located at the Economic Unit, which is part of the Operational Support Department at the County Administrative Board of Värmland.
Operational Support also includes Information Management and HR, Communication, and Internal Services.
The Economic Unit works with financial processes such as accounting, annual reports, and procurement.
We are looking for an experienced, self-driven, and proactive Accounting Manager who wants to take overall responsibility for accounting and contribute to a stable and efficient financial function. In this role, you will be responsible for the entire accounting process from ongoing bookkeeping to monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring that all financial reporting is of high quality and complies with laws and principles.
Responsibilities
Your main area of responsibility is coordinating the agency's external accounting. You will be responsible for ongoing accounting, monthly financial statements, and monthly outcome reporting in the government accounting system Hermes, as well as maintaining good internal control and independently preparing the financial annual report.
You will also ensure that routines and principles within the accounting area are continuously developed. As Accounting Manager, you will participate in various types of development projects within the operational area, sometimes within the agency and sometimes in national contexts. You are expected to familiarize yourself with and carry out various tasks of varying nature during peak periods.
You will participate in projects, provide support to the operations, and be responsible for planning and executing the closing processes in a structured manner. Together with everyone in finance, you will drive the development of work methods and financial systems.
As Accounting Manager, it is important to have an overview of the entire operation while being able to conduct in-depth analyses and work towards deadlines.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a relevant academic education in economics, accounting, or equivalent work experience. The role requires broad and deep experience in qualified accounting work and the ability to independently prepare financial statements. You also have experience leading development projects, preferably in the implementation or change of financial systems as well as streamlining and quality assurance of financial processes. You have good system skills and advanced knowledge of Excel, as well as very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Experience with the government accounting model is an advantage, as well as good knowledge of the ERP financial system and the government accounting system Hermes.
To succeed in this role, you need to be structured in your way of working and enjoy an independent role. In the work with, among other things, financial statements, we see that it is important for you to be meticulous about quality and have a good ability to create a holistic view. You collaborate well and guide others clearly to ensure good results and avoid misunderstandings. You are quality-conscious, have good analytical skills, and are used to working towards deadlines. The role requires a high degree of collaboration and good judgment, as well as good communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Conditions
The position involves placement in the agency's crisis and war organization.
The position is full-time and permanent. We apply a 6-month probationary period as a rule for our permanent positions. Start date as soon as possible by agreement.
