Research Engineer in ResilientEdge
At the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering, education is conducted in the fields of computer engineering, electronics, electrical engineering, and sound production. Research at the department takes place at the research center Sensible Things that Communicate (www.miun.se/stc (http://www.miun.se/stc)) and focuses on sensor-based systems and services for use within the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.
Job Responsibilities
The research engineer will work within the ResilientEdge project, a collaboration between Mid Sweden University and the University of Oulu, Finland.
The project focuses on promoting research in reliable (resilient) infrastructure and services in a world with uncertain and unstable internet connectivity. Responsibilities include conducting research and developing solutions for future resilient networks and resilient distributed services, including vulnerability assessments and implementing protective mechanisms against threats in heterogeneous Cloud/Fog/Mist/Edge environments, as well as assisting companies in their process of utilizing these technologies.
The research engineer will work with advanced methods to analyze, identify, and improve the resilience of next-generation networks. This includes requirement gathering from small and medium-sized enterprises, developing resilient scalable edge platform architectures, implementing AI for resilient infrastructure, resilient distributed inference, and hyper-local computing with tiny edge AI.
In this work, the research engineer will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team and participate in research projects. The work within this position will be carried out at the Communication Systems and Networks research group at the STC research center, in close collaboration with international academic and industrial partners. Collaboration with industrial partners and research institutes is therefore an important part of the work, and teaching opportunities may be available depending on the scope of the project.
