Do you want to contribute to the development of the government's policy for the financial market? At the Unit for Insurance, Pension and Regulatory Governance, you will work with qualified analysis, legislation, and international negotiations – in an environment where current and socially important issues are in focus.
Your workday. Sweden's tomorrow.
The Financial Markets Department is responsible for providing the basis for the government's policy in the financial sector. The Unit for Insurance, Pension and Regulatory Governance is responsible for developing policy and legislation concerning insurance, occupational pensions, the AP funds, and the management of the premium pension. The unit, which consists of about ten employees, is also responsible for authorities that are central to the financial market: the Financial Supervisory Authority, the National Debt Office, the AP funds, and the Auditors' Authority. Additionally, the unit is responsible for developing guidelines for the management of the national debt and evaluating the state's borrowing and debt management. The unit is also responsible for coordinating cybersecurity in the financial market area. At the unit, economists and lawyers work together on negotiation and legislative projects.
Your tasks will focus on analysis and development of policy, both internationally and in Swedish legislation. The work is sometimes conducted at a fast pace. Negotiation work involves some travel within Europe. The work includes contacts with the political leadership of the Ministry of Finance, other ministries, the parliament, authorities, and various industry representatives.
Current issues at the unit include work on the EU Pension Package, which consists of amendments to the second occupational pensions directive and the regulation on a pan-European personal pension product (PEPP), as well as the implementation of changes to the Solvency II directive and a new framework for crisis management for insurance companies. Ongoing policy issues include current matters in the insurance and occupational pension market, the investment rules of the AP funds, and monitoring the state borrowing market.
Your background
We are looking for someone with an academic degree in economics, financial economics, or equivalent. You have at least three years of relevant work experience and express yourself very well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. It is an advantage if you have experience in the unit's area of expertise, as well as work experience in supervision, international negotiations, or norm-setting work relevant to the unit's operations. Furthermore, we would like you to have knowledge of the regulatory frameworks for insurance and/or occupational pension companies, as well as debt management and the pension system.
Your qualities

To succeed in the role, you need to be structured, which means planning, organizing, and prioritizing work effectively while setting and adhering to deadlines. You should have good collaboration skills and be able to work well with others, relate to them in a responsive and flexible manner, and listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. You are quality-conscious, meticulous, and have a good understanding of the operational goals and quality requirements. You work in a structured manner and place great importance on ensuring that the work meets high quality and that set goals and standards are achieved.
