Data Protection Officer at IF Metall

Do you want to join our data protection team and work in an organization that takes GDPR seriously? IF Metall is now strengthening the Data Protection Officer function with four additional specialist positions. We are looking for data protection lawyers or other data protection experts for a central and development-oriented role. You will have the opportunity to work on everything from strategies, legal investigations, and training to follow-ups in an exciting and evolving legal field. Your work will involve the entire organization's information management, which is largely characterized by sensitive personal data. We are looking for someone who is interested in making complex regulations simple and practical to follow and understand in daily work.

The position is full-time and is a permanent employment with placement at the headquarters at Hötorget in central Stockholm. Here you will work in modern and pleasant premises with engaged colleagues. We look forward to your application!

About the position

As a Data Protection Officer, you will play a leading role in developing and coordinating the union's data protection work. Your work is connected to the entire union, meaning union work throughout Sweden. You will collaborate with data protection representatives, local data protection coordinators, responsible managers, and other employees. The collaboration also includes other specialists such as information security officers and information managers.

The main tasks include:

  • Developing the management of the rights of the data subjects
  • Conducting training on data protection issues
  • Leading impact assessments
  • Presenting cases at the union board meetings regarding decisions on data protection
  • Administering actions related to the data protection representative's control plan and reports
  • Updating the privacy policy based on the mapping of various work processes
  • Establishing data processing agreements and internal arrangements
  • Managing personal data incidents

Start date according to agreement, salary and employment conditions are according to the agreement for salaried employees. The position may involve a small number of trips per year, mainly nationally to our local departments, but also to conferences and training relevant to the role of data protection lawyer.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with a degree in law or other relevant education and at least three years of experience working with data protection legislation. You have experience in:

  • Providing legal support and conducting legal investigations as needed
  • Translating legal requirements into practical solutions
  • Participating in change work related to privacy protection issues
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop and coordinate a data protection organization.

We are looking for someone with the ability to create good relationships and who wants to help others grow through pedagogical skills and a structured approach. We place great importance on your personal ability to create energy and joy at work together with others. You generously share your knowledge and have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing, both in Swedish and English. Experience in project management and working in a union organization is an advantage, as is experience working in a non-profit or member-driven organization. You share the values of the labor movement and want to make a difference. To succeed in the role, you should be results-oriented and responsive to the support needs in different parts of the organization.
