The Nephrology department at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) is responsible for basic kidney care in southwestern Skåne and advanced nephrological care within the southern healthcare region, where we operate as a regional unit. Nephrology includes four hemodialysis clinics, inpatient facilities in Lund and Malmö, outpatient clinics in Lund and Malmö, as well as a clinic in both locations for training and follow-up of patients on peritoneal dialysis. In Lund, home hemodialysis and pediatric dialysis services are also provided in collaboration with pediatric nephrologists. Within nephrology, experimental and clinical research is conducted focusing on kidney physiology and peritoneal dialysis, autoimmunity in kidney diseases, epidemiology, transplantation, and several patient-centered projects. Nephrology is part of the transplantation center at Sus.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We welcome you as a Specialist Physician in Nephrology/Internal Medicine to our medical team in nephrology.

The primary location is in Lund, but you will also work in Malmö if needed. Placement at another location within Region Skåne may also be relevant, considering our overall responsibility for kidney care within the region to ensure nephrological expertise at hospitals where kidney care, especially dialysis care, is provided. You will be placed either in the outpatient and inpatient care team or the dialysis team depending on the needs of the service. Investigation and follow-up of nephrology outpatient and dialysis patients are part of your core responsibilities and will be ongoing as the responsible physician (PAL). You will participate in nephrology on-call duties and engage in internal medicine and emergency services at the hospital.

You will also participate in the education of physicians and other professional categories during your service.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who apply are a licensed physician with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Furthermore, you have specialist competence in internal medicine or nephrology. Language proficiency in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is a requirement. You should have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision. We are looking for someone with specialist competence in nephrology or who is a double specialist in nephrology and internal medicine. Clinical skill and independence, as well as demonstrated activity and engagement in nephrological research, are merits for the position.

You have an interest in and are willing to participate in teaching other physicians, students, patients, and other professional categories within the framework of our mission in university healthcare. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

At a university healthcare unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and education. This can be acquired through supervision of nursing and medical students, as well as physicians in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application any completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience in supervision, and teaching at various levels.
