Make a difference. Every day.

Do you want to develop in your role as a nurse? Do you have an interest in surgery? Take the chance, we are now further developing the department!

The surgical area (VO) is one of the largest operations at Kristianstad Central Hospital and consists of outpatient services with vascular, upper/lower gastro, and breast/plastic patients. We also have an oncological treatment unit, a surgical acute care ward (KAVA), and a surgical department.

The surgical department specializes in patients who are surgically treated for colorectal diseases, among others. We also have patients with surgical acute conditions (KAVA patients). Several of our patients may have an oncological diagnosis. With us, we provide both pre- and postoperative care. The development within the specialty is progressing, surgical techniques and medical treatments are becoming increasingly complex and at the same time more accessible to a larger number of patients.

With us, knowledgeable and dedicated employees work, and our goal is always to keep the patient in focus. We are a large team with different professional categories that work closely together around the patient. Our department pharmacist relieves the nurses by ordering medications, ensuring that all medications are available in our inventory, and restocking the medication carts for each team. The pharmacist also assists in preparing IVs, antibiotics, and tablet splitting. During weekdays, we have coordinators who coordinate all incoming calls and a SVU coordinator who plans and maps the patient's needs before discharge.

We are continuing to develop our department with even more nurses and nursing assistants.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

With us, you will have an exciting and developing job in a pleasant working climate where everyone helps each other. You will be surrounded by friendly and competent colleagues in close teamwork.

As a nurse, you will work with preoperative preparations and postoperative care of patients who have undergone colorectal surgery. Some of our patients receive epidural catheters during surgery, which means you will work with advanced pain management. We work according to ERAS, which is an evidence-based care program aimed at ensuring that patients have faster recovery, reduced complications, and shorter hospital stays. Our workgroup focuses on development and improvement in our unit. We have well-established routines and care about our patients.

- The shadowing was what made me stay. I had the opportunity to be part of an operation. It was so exciting! With us, we have a great community and we all work as a team, says nurse Nelly.

If you are new to your role as a nurse, there is an opportunity to participate in our clinical foundation year. With us, you will receive an individually tailored introduction program, and we have a training nurse available for support, guidance, and training. There are also opportunities for education and professional development, as well as internships within collaborating operations. We offer you an exciting and varied job with several development opportunities.

If you are curious and interested in learning more about the department or the nursing role with us, please feel free to contact Tina Persson, the unit manager, via phone or email.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a positive and attentive nurse who sees challenges as opportunities. Your work is characterized by a high sense of responsibility and flexibility. You have a good ability to adapt and prioritize your work and show care for patients and their relatives. With us, we work together and share our collective competence with each other, which gives everyone the opportunity to develop and be involved. It is important that you want to contribute to this with us. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

You who apply are a licensed nurse with the authority to work within Swedish healthcare and have language skills in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale. Experience from the nursing role and surgical department is an advantage.
