At the Swedish Medical Products Agency, we make a difference together. In life and for life. We work for the health of people and animals, for a better Sweden today and in the future. Do you have knowledge and experience in clinical work related to harmful substance use and addiction? We are looking for a new colleague!

Our Operations

The Usage area is responsible for providing information about medicines to achieve appropriate and safe use of medications. We also handle issues related to shortages and supply situations for medicines and collect and evaluate safety data within the pharmaceutical field. Within the Usage area, there is a support unit led by a unit manager. The support unit assists the director and the area with project management, business development, and coordination.

The Swedish Medical Products Agency is currently working on three government assignments in the field of mental health. Since July 2025, the agency has a new assignment to develop a joint national plan for improved addiction care and strengthened preventive work together with the Public Health Agency and the National Board of Health and Welfare (which leads and coordinates the work) as well as six other agencies. The action plan will include proposals for initiatives for work over the next five to ten years.

Your Responsibilities

You will initially work with the agency's government assignment in the field of mental health, with a particular focus on harmful substance use and addiction. In the long term, the tasks may also include other investigative and development assignments related to medication use.

The work involves producing analyses, documentation, and reports to support the agency's positions and government assignments. You will contribute your expertise in collaboration with both internal colleagues and external actors. The role includes compiling and communicating information to various target groups as well as leading or participating in projects and investigations.

The work provides an opportunity to contribute to the development in the field and, in collaboration with other authorities, influence significant issues at the national level. The work is independent and carried out in close cooperation with colleagues.

Your Background

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a completed academic degree in pharmacy, medicine, nursing, or another relevant field for the position.
  • documented knowledge and experience in clinical work related to harmful substance use and addiction.
  • experience in qualified investigative, analytical, or development work.
  • good experience in writing reports and other decision-making documents and can express yourself clearly and understandably, often in collaboration with others.
  • very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

It is advantageous if you also have:

  • experience in driving projects or development initiatives
  • a doctoral degree or other scientific experience in psychiatry, substance dependence, or related fields
  • experience in working with issues related to medication use

Your Personal Qualities

You work independently and take responsibility for driving your tasks forward. You can structure and analyze complex documents and make well-founded assessments. You have a flexible and solution-oriented approach and can contribute to various types of investigative and development assignments based on the needs of the organization. The role involves many contacts, which requires you to collaborate with different professions and contribute to a professional and respectful work environment. We place great importance on personal qualities.
