You will be placed in the building permit area of the Urban Planning Administration, which currently consists of about 50 dedicated employees. The operations are divided into three units with building permit case handlers, architects, building inspectors, building permit advisors, and energy and climate advisors. The team of building permit advisors consists of five employees who work closely with case handlers and inspectors to create a smooth and efficient process for citizens and entrepreneurs. The building permit advisors have a shared email inbox that they are jointly responsible for. They have phone hours Monday to Thursday between 9:00 and 12:00, a time of day when they are fully available to answer questions and provide guidance on building permits and the release of public documents. They have a schedule that ensures that each day is staffed, even if not all advisors have phone hours every day.
Job Description
As a building permit advisor, you are our first point of contact for citizens and entrepreneurs regarding building permits. You will guide them through the available information, answer their questions via phone, email, and in-person meetings. The work involves a lot of interaction with Uppsala's residents and businesses, so it is important that you are passionate about providing service and have a strong interest in urban planning issues. Your role is crucial for us to offer smooth and informative service, and you will be one of our faces in these matters.
The assignment places high demands on the ability to listen and adapt your way of communicating. You will need to use your pedagogical skills and explain complex issues clearly both verbally and in writing. We always work in a service-oriented, calm, and accommodating manner, prioritizing the needs of citizens and entrepreneurs.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a university degree that the employer deems relevant for work in the field of building permits, such as a construction engineer or architect. You also have previous experience working digitally in various programs and systems. The position requires good knowledge of Swedish both orally and in writing.
As a person, you are calm, attentive, and accommodating in your approach. You have the interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to deliver solutions. You are confident and self-aware and see relationships in their proper perspective. You distinguish between the personal and professional and have the ability to empathize with someone else's perspective or situation without taking over their feelings. Furthermore, you take responsibility for your task and structure your approach independently.
