The Youth Center in Borlänge is designed for young people from the municipalities of Borlänge, Säter, and Gagnef. The center welcomes youth aged 13 to 24 who seek care and support on their own initiative or with assistance. We work in teams to empower young people in their identity and personality development, focusing on physical, mental, sexual, and social-cultural health from a holistic perspective. The team consists of midwives, nursing assistants, gynecologists, general practitioners, psychologists, counselors, social workers, clinic assistants, and a department manager. The center is HBTQ certified. In the same building, there is the Child and Youth Counseling Center with which we have a close collaboration.

Together with Borlänge municipality, we are further developing Youth Health, which means a broader and deeper range of health-promoting initiatives. We currently conduct several initiatives annually, including at schools in the municipality.

As a counselor/therapist at our center, you will conduct psychological and psychosocial treatment work with individual youth and sometimes with their families. You will collaborate with the unit's team, care neighbors, and other community actors to provide help and support to the young person. Together with others in the team, you will participate in certain health-promoting initiatives for youth. Pregnancy/abortion counseling is also part of your job responsibilities.

Working hours are scheduled on weekdays, with some evening shifts. The Youth Center often participates in larger public events in the community and in health-promoting initiatives together with the municipality.

The positions are for a permanent employment and a temporary position until 2027-05-31. Start date by agreement.

Requirements:

We are looking for someone who is interested in working with youth and wants to be part of our team.

• Degree in Social Work
• or have an education that the employer deems relevant
• Experience in counseling and therapeutic work
• Good knowledge of Swedish

Meritorious:

• Previous experience working at a Youth Center or another organization aimed at youth
• Basic training in psychotherapy - Step 1.

Personal qualities:

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability and good collaboration skills, flexibility, and the ability to meet young people where they are in life.

This job involves direct and regular contact with children and/or youth. Region Dalarna will introduce a requirement for a license as a Health and Medical Care Counselor from 2029-07-01 for those who will work as counselors within health and medical care.
