The work in this position involves supporting users in their daily lives and, in consultation with relatives, the work group, the manager, and other actors and professionals, creating a clear structure for a meaningful and good existence.
As a support assistant, you will work with individuals who have physical and mental disabilities and who are covered by the LSS group. In the group home, there are six users living in their own apartments with different personalities and widely varying disabilities and needs.
This is a team and operation where you work with a smaller number of users, which means you will work closely with the users to support and be present in their immediate vicinity. In this work, the group needs to have a cohesive working method and place great emphasis on structure and approach.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Here we work with the needs of the residents of Borlänge at the center and meet the users' specific needs for support to promote a stable existence and well-being, both in the present and in the long term.
As a support assistant, you will perform everyday, planned support interventions and activities together with the users. The support interventions should promote the users' integrity, participation, and be carried out with respect for the users' self-determination. The user's needs should be at the center, and the person's opinions should be actively taken into account. Users should receive support and help in their right to decide over their lives and develop their abilities to live as independently as possible.
The work is challenging, and therefore one needs to have a flexible working method but within clear frameworks. The work requires creativity and the ability to adapt working methods according to the day's condition to achieve goals for the day as well as to maintain a fundamental structure in the long term.
Collaboration is the foundation of successful work, so you need to value teamwork and communication highly. Because it is together that we can create an operation with the needs of the residents of Borlänge at the center and a workplace that one approaches with joy!
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic requirements for the position:
- Child and youth program with a focus on social work and educational work / health and care program with specialization in the program deepening disability, or psychiatry/caretaker education/or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
- You have documented experience from working with individuals who belong to the group covered by LSS.
- You have documented experience working with individuals with mental disabilities.
- You have experience working with methods to create a structured environment and understand the importance of structured work, both with the user and the administrative parts involved in the work.
- As communication is a significant need for users, as well as our documentation requirements, good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is required.
- Computer literacy and experience with documentation.
Personal qualities:
You work in a team with others in the staff group to create routines, structure, and working methods. In the daily work with users, you need to be a secure, calm, and patient person.
You need to be comfortable working independently, following the established structure but also able to take the initiative to solve unexpected situations in the moment. As a person, you need to be responsible, attentive, structured, and solution-focused.
You must have the ability to plan for and work in the present as well as take a step back and see the whole and work with long-term goals. As a member of the team, you must be unpretentious and communicative and dare to analyze working methods and situations with an open attitude.
Desirable qualifications:
- Training in low-arousal approaches
- Training in psychiatry/neuropsychiatric disabilities
- Experience working with self-harming behavior and outwardly aggressive behavior
- Driver's license
