School Social Worker at Liljeholmens Gymnasium

We are now seeking a school social worker for Liljeholmens Gymnasium! Welcome to us

Liljeholmens Gymnasium is a school with language introduction (IMS) and individual alternatives (IMA). The school has a continuous intake of students for language introduction throughout the year. In the individual alternative, students who are not eligible for a national program for various reasons attend. We provide instruction in Swedish as a second language for newly arrived youth aged 16-19 years. Over 200 students speaking 50 different languages attend here. At the end of the school year, most students continue their studies at another high school in Stockholm.

Your role

In the role of social worker, you are an important part of the school's student health work and work preventively and promote the well-being of students.

Your assignment as a school social worker includes:

  • working health-promoting to support the student's development towards the goals of education and prevent ill health
  • providing support, advice, and guidance to students, guardians, or legal representatives
  • documenting individual cases and decisions
  • guiding the school's staff on psychosocial issues
  • working with the school's values work, safety work, equal treatment plans, crisis management, anti-drug initiatives, and anti-bullying efforts
  • collaborating externally with social services, various accommodations, police, and child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP).

In the student health team, you will collaborate with the school's other school social worker, a school nurse, a special educator, a study and career counselor, a special pedagogue, and an assistant principal or principal. You will also collaborate with our student support team consisting of leisure educators and resource educators. As a social worker, you work for the entire school, but the assignment may also be specifically directed towards IMS or IMA.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who:

  • has a degree in social work
  • has current experience working as a school social worker
  • has worked with high school students
  • has knowledge of legislation regulating the school's activities and confidentiality
  • can express themselves easily in both spoken and written Swedish.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • worked with students in language introduction or individual alternatives at the high school level
  • worked within social services with children and young people with psychosocial needs and their families
  • worked with newly arrived or youth with foreign backgrounds
  • worked with students in need of special support, such as neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF).
  • knowledge of languages other than Swedish and English

To thrive in this role, you have good collaboration skills and a solution-focused approach. You find it easy to create new relationships and adapt your communication to the recipient. To manage the role, you need to be structured, which means organizing your work effectively. You also have a flexible ability and can prioritize or change your working methods.
