Summer Temporary Positions Available at BmSS

Do you want to make a difference this summer and work with adults with mental disabilities living in BmSS, Special Housing Services? We are currently looking for summer temporary staff for our six psychiatric residences: Morsestigen, Berghagavägen, Grevegårdsvägen, Klåva Gårdsväg, Åkereds Skolväg, and Opaltorget.

Job Responsibilities

At our BmSS, individuals aged 18-65 live with individual and varying support needs. The target group we work with includes individuals with complex mental disabilities as well as neuropsychiatric disabilities. They reside in their own apartments close to and/or adjacent to common areas.

As a summer temporary staff member, you will support our tenants based on individual needs, aiming to lead to a good and independent life. Together with colleagues at the residence, tasks range from care interventions to assistance with household chores, social support for leisure activities, and collaboration with the network surrounding the individual. The work includes social documentation and medication management according to delegation.

The goal of your work efforts is to ensure that each tenant has a daily life with the highest possible degree of self-determination, participation, and quality of life. You will have a non-confrontational approach and a very good ability to collaborate. You will work independently as well as in a team. You need to be confident in making your own assessments, meeting, and acting appropriately in various and sometimes acute situations. In our operations, it is required that you can meet individuals with mental disabilities. Previous experience in this area is advantageous.

We work according to established implementation plans, structured interventions, and common approaches. You will receive support with your work from a support pedagogue with special responsibility and the workgroup.

As a summer temporary staff member with us, you will work at two different units during your employment. Prior to your position, you will be offered introductory training in our documentation system and for your medication delegation. You will also be offered two introductory days at the intended unit.

Working hours are scheduled during the day/evening and weekends. We are also looking for night staff.

Interviews are conducted continuously during the application period, and we warmly welcome your application!

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who preferably has a high school or university education in healthcare, behavioral science, social work, pedagogy, or equivalent education deemed comparable by the recruiting manager. Ongoing university education with a focus on social work, psychology, psychiatry, or pedagogy is considered advantageous. We also see it as an advantage if you have experience working with mental and neuropsychiatric disabilities and knowledge of mental health.

It is desirable that you have experience and/or theoretical knowledge regarding mental health and/or substance abuse. Knowledge and experience of MI, ESL, and low-arousal approaches (LAB) are seen as advantageous as these methods are central to our work.

Since interaction and conversation are a significant part of the work within psychiatry, you need to master the Swedish language in both spoken and written form. It is also part of your job to maintain documentation. Therefore, you need to meet the requirement of approved grades in Swedish 1, Swedish as a second language 1, or equivalent. If you do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1, you may be offered to take a language test through the test user Educateit.

You must be available to work full-time during weeks 27-33. We also welcome your availability to work hours before your summer position.

If you have a driver's license, this is also considered advantageous.
