Intelligence Officer at the Swedish Customs

The operational activities of the Swedish Customs are divided into four departments: Control, Revenue Collection, Customs Crime, and Intelligence. The Intelligence Department conducts intelligence operations with deliveries to all parts of the Swedish Customs. The Intelligence Department is responsible for the analysis and intelligence operations of the Swedish Customs, working both with the Control, Customs Crime, and Revenue Collection departments. Within the Intelligence Department, strategic and operational intelligence and analysis work is carried out.

The purpose of the intelligence work is to prevent, detect, and prevent criminal activities by providing qualitative data for information gathering, producing materials for customs crime operations conducted within the framework of initiated preliminary investigations, providing qualitative data for control orders, and continuously updating current risk profiles and modus operandi for control operations.

About the Position

As an intelligence officer, you will work with gathering, processing, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence products. In your daily work, you will closely collaborate on your cases with intelligence leaders and gathering resources. You will present operational materials, cases, and intelligence products to relevant recipients both in writing and orally, as well as through various visualizations of the information.

In your daily work, internal collaboration within the department as well as collaboration with other operational parts of the Swedish Customs is a natural part, and supporting each other in ongoing intelligence work is a given. The intelligence work is national, which may involve collaboration and sometimes presence in other main locations. National and international cooperation with other authorities, especially with law enforcement agencies, is also a natural part of daily operations. You build trust and open doors to other law enforcement agencies, both internally and externally, nationally and internationally. There will also be some travel both nationally and internationally.

The intelligence operations are dynamic and sometimes unpredictable, which means that tough and quick prioritizations may need to be made, placing high demands on adaptability and flexibility in your cases and tasks. Since information gathering is largely handled in various data systems, we place high demands on the ability to work with large data sets. The operations are in constant development, and improvement work is a natural part of the job.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Post-secondary education or other education deemed relevant by the employer
  • Experience in operational work within intelligence operations, preliminary investigation work at a government agency, or control operations within the Swedish Customs
  • Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
  • Good knowledge of the Office suite
  • Swedish driver's license, class B for passenger car
  • Swedish citizenship

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience of operational collaboration with law enforcement agencies

To be considered for employment at the Swedish Customs, you must meet high standards regarding security and confidentiality awareness, suitability, and compliance with applicable laws. A security clearance with a background check according to the Security Protection Act will be conducted before employment, as the position is placed in a security class. The Swedish Customs is a total defense authority, and upon employment, you may be assigned to the Swedish Customs in times of war.
