Environmental Strategist for the City of Helsingborg
An important step in creating a greener Helsingborg with a good quality of life is to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals. Safe handling of chemicals and smart product choices are essential parts of increasing the phase-out of harmful chemicals in society. Therefore, we are now looking for an engaged environmental strategist who will develop and guide the municipality's handling and use of chemicals and work strategically to reduce the chemical burden on the environment.

As an environmental strategist, you will work with colleagues in the Department of Environmental Strategy and Monitoring. Together, you will work for environmentally sustainable development by driving, developing, and monitoring the city's environmental and climate efforts.
Job Responsibilities
As an environmental strategist at the Environmental Administration in the City of Helsingborg, you will help the city's administrations and companies handle and use chemicals correctly and replace them with less hazardous alternatives.
Your responsibilities include, among others:
- Coordinating and providing strategic guidance on the municipality's handling and use of chemicals.
- Monitoring relevant legislation in the area and ensuring compliance and implementation.
- Conducting training initiatives and developing routines for safe chemical handling.
- Disseminating knowledge about the impact of chemicals on the environment and human health in Helsingborg and assisting in the city's own environmental monitoring.
- Collaborating with the Environmental Administration's supervisory officers.
- Supporting operations in making good chemical choices in purchasing and procurement.
- Writing consultation responses in the area.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a natural scientist or environmental scientist with a focus on chemicals, alternatively an engineer with an environmental focus or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
You have several years of experience working strategically with chemical-related issues in companies or in public operations, with a fundamental understanding of the legislation and regulations in the chemical area.
You are expected to independently lead your work and work goal-oriented and in close dialogue with the municipality's various operations, as well as have good knowledge and experience in change management where process and project management are central competencies.
You are skilled at expressing yourself and communicating professionally in both spoken and written Swedish.
Experience working in politically governed organizations is meritorious.
