We are looking for a Traffic Planner
We are seeking an employee in the traffic and public transport sector who wants to contribute to the planning, investigation, and implementation of projects. The role involves working on issues related to urban development and infrastructure where public transport is a central part. You will work in project form and contribute your expertise throughout the process. The position suits you who want to combine analysis, planning, and coordination in a development-oriented assignment.
Responsibilities
As a traffic planner, you will work with traffic planning that includes public transport and participate in and lead projects in the area. You will drive projects to improve bus traffic flow, work on the reconstruction of stops, develop designs, and be responsible for engaging contractors for investment measures and reconstructions.
The work includes planning, analysis, and coordination of efforts related to traffic and infrastructure. You will work on issues concerning traffic investigations, design, accessibility, and traffic safety as well as solutions for walking, cycling, and public transport. The assignments span the entire process, and you will participate in both investigation and planning phases as well as implementation phases.
The role also includes contributing to the development of the public transport network and infrastructure and producing strategic documents, investigations, and analyses within the traffic and infrastructure field. You will participate in various stages of projects and contribute to progress through coordination, follow-up, and dialogue with stakeholders.
The work involves close cooperation with, among others, Skånetrafiken, as well as contacts with other administrations, politicians, and citizens. You will handle matters related to traffic issues and provide advice and support both internally and externally.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a bachelor's degree of at least 180 credits with a focus on urban development, traffic, or infrastructure, or other higher education in equivalent fields. You have at least five years of experience working in public transport or traffic planning that includes public transport, of which at least two years involve project management. You have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
It is advantageous if you have education in areas such as public transport, design and project planning, traffic safety, accessibility, cycling and pedestrian issues, project management, or program management as well as CAD. It is also advantageous if you have experience with traffic investigations, design and project work, traffic safety, accessibility, work with walking and cycling issues, or experience from the implementation phase in projects. Knowledge of English is also advantageous.
In the role, you need to be able to drive work forward with a focus on goals, results, and deliveries while planning and organizing your tasks in a structured way. You work meticulously and are conscious of quality in both analyses, documentation, and implementation, and have the ability to independently take responsibility for your assignments and advance them. Since the work takes place in close dialogue with many actors, it is important that you contribute to good collaboration and can communicate in a way that creates clarity in both processes, decisions, and expectations.
About the workplace
The Traffic Planning Section is part of the Mobility Unit within the Urban Development Department. The section's mission is to contribute to the development of the city's mobility system in both the short and long term, with a holistic perspective for all who travel and move in Malmö. The section is one of five within the Mobility Unit and consists of 15 employees with various focus areas and technical backgrounds in traffic planning. The group is characterized by a breadth of competencies in traffic planning that together work on the city's traffic and mobility issues.
