Do you want to broaden your skills as an educator while also developing personally? Then apply for a summer job as a camp leader at Utepedagogik's campgrounds this summer.
Job Responsibilities
Your task as a camp leader at Utepedagogik's campgrounds is to be responsible for children aged 9-13 or 13-16, as well as to plan and lead activities for this participant group. Camp involves round-the-clock activities for the youth and us leaders. As a leader, you live and interact with the children and youth at the campground, so you need to be comfortable being away from home for at least 6 weeks.
Who are we looking for?
A large part of the job is to meet the needs of young people and be able to guide them in their decisions. To meet this, we believe you need to be confident in yourself, your leadership role, and able to set boundaries. You should also feel comfortable engaging in more life-oriented conversations. This is largely similar to working in a school where there are demands to set boundaries while also creating relationships to ensure a safe environment.
Personal qualities:
- responsible
- problem solver
- good at multitasking
- proactive
- creative
- boundary setter
- organized
- punctual
- team player
- confident in oneself and one’s educational role
It is also important that you can give and receive feedback and have the ambition and desire to develop the activities and yourself together with us. You should be flexible and resilient as the work shifts can be both long and demanding. To work as a camp leader, we believe that qualities such as being able to take up space in a group, being able to make mistakes and have fun, and being able to make decisions are necessary. We place great value on humor and social skills.
Experience
You who are applying should have a strong interest in guiding children and youth, as well as working outdoors since most of our activities are held outside. Experience in setting boundaries and building relationships with children aged 9-16 is important. We believe that those with experience in primary school have a good foundation to succeed in your role as a camp leader. Activities we do include hiking, building rafts, climbing, swimming, and cooking outdoors. We will also have artistic activities such as theater, dance, and singing. Disco, football tournaments, and themed days are also on the schedule.
Experience/competence in any of these areas is desirable:
- camp/camp activities
- outdoor life
- healthcare
- paddling
- theater
- singing, music
- sports
- cooking
- community life
