Berga offers the program Forest, Land, and Animals at our adapted upper secondary school, which is a small unit where teachers collaboratively plan the teaching to ensure that students receive the best possible education and school experience. The education is both theoretical and practical. Approximately half of the education takes place outdoors on our farm to concretize and reinforce the knowledge. School days are varied, and we work to challenge all students at their individual levels to reach their full potential. The education aims to provide students with knowledge and conditions for leading as independent and active a life as possible and to participate in community life after graduation.

We are looking for someone who is qualified and licensed to teach in some subjects in the Forest, Land, and Animals program. You will be part of a team where planning and evaluation of the activities take place with a well-functioning quality work. The role includes contact with guardians. There is an opportunity to combine the position with teaching in the school's national agricultural program. In the Forest, Land, and Animals program, there is a well-functioning team with good collaboration that always focuses on the students. Here, you will work together with a special education teacher, a resource, and a couple of teachers who also teach in the school's national agricultural program.

Qualifications

For our adapted upper secondary school, we are now looking for teachers in some of the following subjects: mathematics, social studies, English, physical education and health, agricultural studies, and home economics. You need to be practically oriented and enjoy working outdoors with gardening, animals, and farm work.

We are looking for someone with a secondary school teacher's degree and qualifications to teach in an adapted upper secondary school.

You need to have a B driver's license.

As a teacher, you have social competence and creative ability. We are looking for someone who is solution-oriented and can create trusting relationships with students. You are clear and empathetic and adapt teaching based on students' abilities and knowledge. Good collaboration skills with colleagues are a given, as we work in teams with students in focus.

Meritorious:

· Previous experience of teaching in an adapted upper secondary school

· Experience with animals

· Familiar with driving ATVs, brush cutters, and similar equipment

If needed, accommodation at Berga can be arranged, and there may be an opportunity to bring your own dog to work!

Seasonal position. The position is 60-100% depending on qualifications.

About the School

Berga Agricultural High School is located in Västerhaninge outside Stockholm and is owned by Dille Bolagen AB. Our upper secondary school is situated on a large farm. The farm's area amounts to 600 hectares, which gives the school a unique location in Stockholm County, just 30 minutes by commuter train from Stockholm Central Station. We operate a farm and have horse stables, riding halls, riding arenas, driving tracks, and boarding facilities. Since 1921, young people have been educated in agriculture at Berga, although the farm's history dates back much further. At Berga, it is close to both the city, the sea, and the forest.

Berga is a large school in terms of area but relatively small in terms of student numbers. Today, about 240 students attend Berga. The number of staff is around 60 people, meaning there are not many students per adult at the school. Almost all teachers are qualified and have teaching licenses.
