Description

Rainbow House is a meeting place in the City of Gothenburg for LGBTQI individuals.

The City of Gothenburg provides staff who coordinate the activities and have some capacity to support the events organized at the venue. The City also covers the costs for the venue and operations. All activities in Rainbow House are created by, with, and for the LGBTQI community. This means that all activities should also target LGBTQI individuals or aim to inform and spread knowledge about LGBTQI issues. We are now looking for a temporary operations developer who wants to make a difference.

Rainbow House is a place for meetings, engagement, socializing, information dissemination, and creative creation. The goal of Rainbow House is to strengthen the living conditions for LGBTQI individuals by providing a social context and arena for self-organization. Rainbow House should be a safe place for queer individuals.

Responsibilities

As an operations developer at Rainbow House, you will combine strategic development work with active hosting at the meeting place. You will work closely with organizers, visitors, and partners to develop the operations and ensure that Rainbow House is a safe, accessible, and inclusive place.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Planning, leading, and following up on meetings and workshops to create participation and influence.
  • Supporting and introducing organizers to Rainbow House's routines and working methods.
  • Working with planning, follow-up, evaluation, statistics, and documentation.
  • Being present in the operations and welcoming visitors and organizers in a safe and inclusive manner.
  • Ensuring that the meeting place is alcohol- and drug-free, cost-free, accessible to all regardless of functional variation, politically and religiously neutral, free from discrimination, harassment, threats, and violence.
  • Collaborating and building networks and trust with civil society, the public sector, and other actors.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Good knowledge of the LGBTQI field and understanding of the conditions and needs of LGBTQI individuals.
  • Experience in rights-empowering work and in creating participation and influence.
  • Experience in collaboration and network building.
  • Experience in planning and leading meetings and workshops.
  • Experience in operational development.
  • A university degree of at least three years in a relevant field.
  • Very good Swedish in speech and writing, as well as good English.

Meritorious

  • Experience of work or engagement within the LGBTQI field.
  • Experience in norm-critical and intersectional approaches.
  • Experience working in a social meeting place.
  • Experience in process management.
  • Knowledge of Arabic.

Conditions

We apply rolling selection, which means that interviews may take place before the application period has ended. In this recruitment, we do not request a personal letter – instead, you will answer a number of questions related to your competencies.

We offer a workplace with a customer- and service-oriented culture. Our employees have broad and varied competencies, and we have operations in development and with a forward-looking spirit. We have employee benefits such as wellness grants and bicycle benefits, and nice premises located centrally in Gothenburg.

In preparation for this recruitment, we have made decisions regarding recruitment channels, and therefore we kindly decline further offers of competency mediation, advertising, and recruitment assistance. The work involves some evening shifts and work one weekend a month. The position is temporary until September 30.
