to apply for the job
The city of Västerås has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will become an important part of our selection work.
As a camp leader at Vallby Open Air Museum, you will help create memorable summer days for children in a vibrant cultural and natural environment. The role combines responsibility, creativity, and practical work with children, animals, and engaged colleagues. Here, you will work outdoors in an environment that engages and inspires.
Your tasks
As a camp leader, you will mentor two summer interns who work with you to provide the participating children with a positive experience during the summer camps. You will plan and prepare the content of the camp days in addition to the fixed activities related to animals and cultural history. The camps take place during the day and are aimed at children aged 7-10 years. You will actively participate in the camp activities and hold daily check-ins with the summer interns.
Your skills
We are looking for someone who enjoys taking responsibility and has experience leading or mentoring others in their work. If you also have experience working with children and youth or animals, that is a big plus. You are comfortable working independently, have a positive attitude, and a good sense of service. You have good knowledge of Swedish and English, and a completed high school education is a requirement for employment.
We offer
You will become part of Västerås Museums and have the opportunity to work at one of Västmanland's largest tourist attractions during its most vibrant period. With us, you will have a meaningful and independent summer job in a unique cultural and natural environment. As a camp leader at Vallby Open Air Museum, you will work practically with children, animals, and cultural heritage, while also having the opportunity to influence the content of daily work.
Here, you will be part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in both big and small matters. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, year-round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you will have Sweden's most important job.
