The County Administrative Board of Södermanland is looking for

Election Workers for the Final Vote Count for the Elections to the Parliament, Municipality, and Region 2026 (Ref. No. 112-817-2026)

The County Administrative Board of Södermanland is responsible for coordinating and compiling the election results for the region in the elections to the Parliament, municipality, and region in 2026. We are now seeking employees for the final counting of votes in the 2026 elections. The votes will be counted over approximately 10 working days starting from September 14, 2026.

By participating in this work, you contribute to conducting a fair election and, in the long run, to upholding the democratic system. The work is not a political assignment but rather administrative tasks.

Job Responsibilities

Are you someone who thrives in structured environments, is used to working within given frameworks and rules, and has an interest in society? Then this could be an assignment for you!

We are looking for 60-70 people to work on the final counting of votes for the 2026 elections. The County Administrative Board is seeking counting leaders, monitors, and counters. The tasks involve assessing, handling, and counting all ballots in the region. In all tasks, it is of utmost importance that you can effectively carry out your work within clearly set time frames.

Qualifications and Profile

You must be at least 18 years old and a Swedish citizen. You should be meticulous, dexterous, and able to efficiently count ballots with legal security and quality results. You should be able to make your own qualitative decisions and assessments. Furthermore, you need to have good language skills in Swedish and be able to read and comprehend both printed and handwritten text. The work can be monotonous, which requires good patience. We place great importance on personal suitability and see it as self-evident that you contribute to a good working atmosphere.

It is a requirement to participate in a training session during week 36 and to be available to work all weekdays according to the schedule from the 14th until the 28th of September to be considered for employment, see more below under the heading “About the Position”.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • worked with the final counting in elections
  • experience of similar tasks in connection with elections
  • interest and understanding of the democratic process

About the Position

The employment is a special fixed-term position with hourly compensation. The employment extends from September 14 to the latest until September 28, 2026.

A training day will take place during week 36. Participation in the training is mandatory and a prerequisite for being considered for employment. The work is scheduled during the period from the 14th until the 28th of September 2026, and working hours are estimated to be Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 17:00, with some adjustments due to the assigned role on Monday, September 14, 2026. If necessary, overtime work may be required.

All positions at the County Administrative Board may be subject to security clearance and military placement depending on the nature of the assignment.
