Area of Activity: Academic Laboratory
We are the Academic Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. In addition to our role as a regional hospital, we provide highly specialized care to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero of life. We believe that honesty lasts the longest, and it is no secret that we need to grow our team. As a colleague, you will experience much: tough challenges but also fantastic events, strong community, and support from colleagues and fellow humans. Our Operations
Would you like to be our next employee in the Department of Clinical Pathology?
The Academic Laboratory is looking for someone who wants to work in Clinical Pathology. The department mainly consists of three parts: Clinical Pathological Diagnostics, Clinical Cytological Diagnostics, and Clinical Autopsies and Mortuary Services. We handle the examination of cell and tissue samples, not only from the Academic Hospital and Region Uppsala but also from hospitals in the region.
We are located in our own building as part of the Rudbeck Laboratory and are organizationally part of the Academic Laboratory. Currently, about 120 people work in the department, of which approximately half are biomedical analysts (BMA). The work is carried out in close collaboration between BMA, pathologists (doctors), molecular biologists, nursing assistants, and other professional groups.
Your Mission
In the work within Clinical Pathology, you will be responsible for handling both formalin-fixed and unfixed histological samples. Since the laboratory consists of several different processes, examinations are also performed on blood, bone marrow, cerebrospinal fluid, lymph nodes, and other lymphoid tissue. We also perform molecular diagnostic analyses for several different cancer diagnoses.
Participation in quality work, guidance, training, and development of the operations is also included in the tasks. The mission is within clinical routine analyses.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a licensed biomedical analyst or has equivalent competence in laboratory science. Practical experience and theoretical knowledge in histopathology are advantageous, as well as histological skills in sectioning and staining, and technical knowledge of complex instrumentation.
Your Competence
The work places high demands on accuracy, initiative, and independence. You will be part of a structure based on several processes with many involved, where collaboration is one of the cornerstones. Great emphasis will be placed on experience and personal qualities. Good language skills, both orally and in writing in Swedish, are a requirement.
We Offer
Permanent employment, full-time, daytime, possibly a probationary period of six months. Start date according to agreement.
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
