Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology is a creative and international workplace for education and research with approximately 200 employees.
Over 1000 individuals study in our various programs, ranging from undergraduate to doctoral level, including psychology programs, psychotherapy programs, and specialized training. We also conduct highly successful research in several areas, including work and organizational psychology, psychophysics and perception, stress, biological psychology, clinical psychology, cognition, social psychology, and developmental psychology. The department has its own psychological clinic for research and education with approximately 4000 visits per year.
More information about us can be found at: Department of Psychology (https://www.su.se/enheter/psykologiska-institutionen).
Project Description
The project “Precarious and Unsustainable? What workplace risks are associated with gig work through employment agencies in Sweden, and how can these be prevented?” is seeking a researcher. You can read more at the project website (https://www.su.se/forskning/forskningskatalog/forskningsprojekt/9/prekart-och-ohallbart-vilka-arbetsmiljorisker-foreligger-i-egenanstallning-och-hur-kan-dessa-forebyggas). The project is led by Professor Claudia Bernhard-Oettel. We are looking for a researcher for the quantitative part of the project, to assist with data analysis and the preparation of co-authored manuscripts.
Job Responsibilities
As a researcher in the project, you will primarily be responsible for analyzing quantitative data (registry and survey data). The tasks also include writing and preparing manuscripts based on this data. You may also contribute to additional data collection and to the communication and dissemination of research results, for example at seminars, scientific conferences, or meetings with the project’s reference group. The tasks will be carried out in collaboration with other project staff and external partners.
Eligibility Requirements
A researcher is primarily employed for research and must have obtained a doctoral degree or possess a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree.
Assessment Criteria
We are looking for a person with a doctoral degree in psychology, sociology, medicine, or related fields. The doctoral degree must be obtained before the start of the employment. The applicant must have documented knowledge of quantitative research methods and advanced statistics (e.g., structural equation modeling, person-centered approaches, latent growth curve modeling). Experience with case-control studies is an advantage, as is previous experience working with Swedish registry data or longitudinal cohort studies.
Given the research focus of the project, the applicant is expected to be familiar with labor studies and issues related to employment and working conditions. This should be evident from scientific publications demonstrating good competence. Experience in research on the gig economy is an advantage.
The applicant must have good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, as well as the ability to analyze survey and registry data and communicate research results in Swedish. The applicant must also have documented ability to work both independently and in teams. Personal suitability will be an important assessment criterion.
About the Employment
The position is part-time (80%) and is limited to 12 months. Start date is April 1, 2026, or as agreed.
