The summer jobs at Vattenfall provide an opportunity for you as a student to gain experience and insight into what it is like to work at a large Swedish energy company. At Forsmark, approximately 1,200 employees currently work, and we are part of the Vattenfall Group, which operates in a European labor market with opportunities for fantastic development for you as an employee. Our workplace is beautifully located along the lovely Roslagen coast.

UL operates buses to Forsmark that have wireless networks on the routes Gävle-Forsmark and Uppsala-Forsmark, allowing you to use travel time as working time if/when work permits. Buses to and from Forsmark are adapted to the working hours of daytime personnel. You also have the option to use our remote workspaces in Gävle and Uppsala or work from home if/when work permits.

About the Role

About the Unit

The unit is responsible for optimizing the plant's water chemistry to minimize corrosion, limit activity spread, and prevent age-related damage. The work includes continuous monitoring and analysis of water chemistry and radioactivity levels in process systems to ensure safe and long-term operation.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

The role includes practical laboratory work with sampling and analysis of water and air. You will analyze corrosion products, ions, and radioactivity, record results in LIMS, manage chemicals, and contribute to updating instructions and procedures.

This is an excellent opportunity for you studying chemistry to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and gain valuable experience in laboratory work in an advanced industrial environment. For the right person, the position may also open up opportunities for future employment after graduation.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You have knowledge in chemistry
  • You are studying at the college or university level in chemical engineering or another chemistry-related field
  • You have good knowledge of Swedish

Meritorious

  • Focus on nuclear technology
  • Driver's license B
  • Knowledge of English
