About the positions

As an ecological consultant at Greensway, you will play an important role in developing Swedish nature conservation. You will be part of a team of experienced and passionate employees working on inventories, feasibility studies, and documentation for various permit matters and environmental impact assessments related to forestry, urban development, and energy infrastructure.

In the role of ecological consultant, you will be part of a leading actor in evidence-based nature conservation, where you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to a sustainable future. When you start your employment, you will be assigned a mentor and receive support from experienced colleagues to help you get started effectively. You can expect thorough guidance and support to integrate into the organization.

We plan to fill at least two positions, one of which specializes in bird inventories and investigations, and one requiring more generalist skills in natural value inventories and other ecological analyses. Both positions are permanent full-time employment, based at Greensway in Uppsala or Gothenburg, but part of the work will be field-based across large parts of the country. Therefore, you need to be able to travel for work.

Your main responsibilities

In the role of ecological consultant, a significant part of your tasks will involve conducting office and field-based assessments of natural values and ecological investigations. An important aspect is to carry out field studies to map various natural environments and their flora and fauna. Conducting analysis and investigations to assess the environmental value, whether it is worthy of protection, and what threats it faces is also included. Furthermore, you will write reports and investigations, compiling and presenting the results of the inventories. This may involve preparing permit applications for developments or evaluating the effects of environmental measures. Typically, the inventories are based on the SIS standard.

Another important part of the role is to collaborate with various stakeholders such as municipalities, government agencies, and private companies to develop plans and strategies for preserving and protecting natural environments. This may also include providing advice to Greensway's clients on conservation and environmental issues.

Who are you?

For the role of ecological consultant, we see that you have a relevant university or college degree in biology, ecology, or another field that we consider equivalent. We expect you to have previous experience in natural value assessments and a broad knowledge of species and natural environments. You have worked with natural value inventories according to Swedish standards and/or conducted follow-ups of natural environments or species inventories according to government standards. It is a significant plus if you have any experience in project management or assignment responsibility, specialist knowledge in any species group, or experience with environmental impact assessments, species protection issues, and ecological feasibility studies related to infrastructure or detailed plans. One of the positions will be filled by someone with good knowledge and experience of birds and bird inventories.
