We are currently looking for our next Environmental Specialist for the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) department at Cytiva's manufacturing facility in Uppsala. As an Environmental Specialist with us, you will be part of the local EHS team consisting of about 20 experts in various EHS areas such as external environment, occupational health, process safety, chemical management, and occupational health services.

In this role, you will be part of a cross-functional team with several exciting interfaces at a Seveso-classified manufacturing facility where you will be responsible for driving issues related primarily to contaminated land, surface and groundwater, chemicals, and waste. Cytiva Uppsala is also certified according to ISO 14001.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies for issues related to pollution management in water and soil and drive this work forward
  • Develop routines and instructions for the department and site.
  • Manage regulatory contacts.
  • Ensure that the company complies with applicable legal requirements and permits regarding land issues.
  • Support colleagues in the EHS department and other parts of the company in both daily and strategic environmental issues and projects.
  • Act as a sounding board and support for internal inquiries within the EHS department.
  • Conduct incident investigations.
  • Work on continuous improvements together with other parts of the company.

Your profile:

  • University degree in chemistry or environmental science.
  • Experience in risk assessments, mass handling, remediation investigations, and soil and groundwater remediation.
  • Experience from infrastructure projects, industrial projects, construction contracts, or development assignments.
  • Experience and knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory contacts, and permitting processes.
  • Knowledge of management systems, self-monitoring programs, and environmental coordination in projects.
  • Fluent communication in both Swedish and English.

It is also an advantage if you have:

  • Experience in project management and procurement of contractors and experience from the chemical industry.

We prefer that you, as a candidate, are an organized and structured problem solver with a good ability to explain and anchor various decisions. You are a skilled communicator who easily takes initiative and can handle inquiries in your area with a high degree of independence. You thrive in a changing environment with a fast pace and are eager to drive change and simplification efforts in collaboration with others.
