The Department of Mathematics offers education at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels in mathematics. The department is responsible for mathematics courses within a range of different study programs at the undergraduate and advanced levels: several engineering programs, teacher programs, bachelor programs in the faculty's areas, and our own programs, the bachelor's program in mathematics and the master's program in mathematics. The number of employees is approximately 130. The number of full-time students in undergraduate and advanced education is about 600. Job Responsibilities

As an equality assistant, you will work with equality issues for students in the bachelor's and master's programs in mathematics, concerning all grounds for discrimination.

The assistant will primarily work with regular activities that increase the cohesion of female mathematics students and with marketing the mathematics program to female applicants in order to achieve a more balanced gender distribution in the program. Specifically, the assistant will represent the program at educational fairs organized by the university and actively contribute to collaboration with high schools.

Parts of the work will be carried out together with the department's equality group, and the assistant will also serve as a link between the department's equality group and students.

Qualifications

To be employed as an assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted to undergraduate or advanced education.

The applicant must be an active student in the bachelor's or master's program in mathematics. We are looking for someone who is driven and engaged in equality issues. The work involves many contacts, and great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

Currently, there are more employees with legal gender male than legal gender female among assistants within the Department of Mathematics. The university strives for a more balanced distribution of legal genders within this category.

About the Employment

The employment is temporary according to HF Chapter 5 § 12. The scope is 15%. Start date is February 20, 2026, or by agreement. Location: Uppsala
