Our Operations

Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine is a section at the Academic Laboratory that provides round-the-clock laboratory services and medical expertise for blood transfusions and cell therapy, as well as preparations for organ transplants. We conduct research and development in collaboration with Uppsala University. Our operations consist of two special areas: Clinical Immunology (autoimmunity and allergy and cellular immunology) and Transfusion Medicine (hemotherapy including blood donation and immunohematology).

The Department of Immunohematology is responsible for transfusion medicine analyses such as blood typing and compatibility testing prior to blood transfusion, as well as providing blood components to Uppsala University Hospital and Enköping Hospital. The operation is conducted around the clock. We have 20 biomedical analysts and laboratory staff, as well as a department head. We also have doctors and quality coordinators associated with the department.

Your Mission

You are responsible for leading the operations towards set goals and visions. You are responsible for operations, finances, and personnel management for the employees within the department, which includes recruiting, conducting employee and salary discussions, and being responsible for the work environment and rehabilitation.

As department head, you report directly to the deputy operations manager within Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine. You are part of the section's management team together with head colleagues from the section's other departments, medically responsible doctors, business developers, and quality coordinators.

We Are Looking For You

We are looking for an initiative-taking person with a good ability to work both independently and in a team. Accuracy, a systematic approach, as well as good collaboration skills and flexibility are qualities we value. You have a holistic view and create the engagement and participation needed to drive the operations forward. You utilize your employees' different competencies and enjoy leading in a developing environment. The role requires sensitivity, good collaboration skills, and a willingness to uplift others.

You are a licensed biomedical analyst or have an equivalent university education in laboratory science. You have leadership experience and previous managerial positions, and/or have extensive experience working in transfusion medicine or other clinical laboratory medicine.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

We Offer

We offer a temporary appointment as department head for three years, or a permanent position as department head depending on previous experience according to the directives of Region Uppsala, as well as a permanent employment within your profession.

We offer a temporary appointment as department head for 3 years and a permanent employment in your base profession. Start date according to agreement, probationary employment may apply. Selection, interviews, and appointments may occur during the application period.
