Logistics Expert at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Procurement Unit is responsible for developing and managing the authority's purchases based on procurement legislation, other regulations, and the needs of the organization.

The unit's tasks include developing methods for category management, monitoring compliance with agreements for the authority's purchases, and developing a well-functioning ordering process, which also includes the ordering organization and e-commerce systems.

The unit also provides procurement-related legal support and advice, as well as handling procurement cases, appeals, and other business law matters.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a logistics expert, you will have overall responsibility for developing and optimizing the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's supply of goods as well as warehouse and logistics processes. You will also be responsible for ensuring that logistics solutions are cost-effective, sustainable, and appropriate.

The role involves extensive collaboration, from local operational sites to central requirement-setting functions and procurement officers to develop relevant requirements within each purchasing and procurement area. The responsibility for development regarding processes and requirements within the area includes facilitating internal dialogue within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's operational areas as well as externally with suppliers and the market.

Since this is a new role at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, much of the initial work will involve analyzing the authority's needs for warehousing, logistics, and material planning, as well as preparing decision-making materials for the authority's continued management in the area.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain management (SCM), economics, or other education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
  • Several years of experience in the field of logistics, material planning, and SCM
  • Experience in developing and streamlining processes within logistics, purchasing, or related areas
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in business dialogues
  • High digital competence in relevant systems within logistics, business systems, and analytical tools
  • Good understanding of economic relationships
  • Very good ability to express yourself in both spoken and written Swedish and English
