Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for a qualified special education teacher in mathematics for grades 7-9 to Hermodsdal School! As a special education teacher, you will plan and implement teaching for our students in need of special support. You will be part of the school's student health team, which consists of the principal, vice principal, special educator, counselor, career advisor, school psychologist, and school nurse. In your role as a special education teacher, you have specific responsibility for the students you teach, and you will inform and keep the student's guardians updated on the student's academic progress. You will collaborate with student coordinators to challenge students to take their own initiatives, develop their interests, and take responsibility for themselves and others. You will be part of the 7-9 work team with many competent and driven colleagues who support each other and collaborate to achieve the best possible results for each individual.

The school has a common classroom structure designed by the school's educators to create a clear pedagogical structure for each lesson. The language-developing approach permeates all subjects at the school. We work with close relationships with both students and guardians, and through regular result dialogues, we analyze which areas students need to work on to achieve their goals, adapting our teaching to each student. Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed teacher with qualifications in mathematics and a special education degree for work in grades 7-9. Previous experience working as a special education teacher at the secondary level is an advantage, as is having qualifications in other subjects. You need to have a good understanding of and knowledge of the school's governing documents and can effectively use them in your daily work. You have good didactic and pedagogical skills, allowing you to lead and organize your work to create a conducive learning environment for our students throughout their school day.

Based on evidence-based research, you can develop your work, and with good knowledge and experience, you work effectively with relevant digital tools. To fit as a teacher with us, it is important that you have a relational leadership style, work from a language and knowledge-developing approach, are flexible, have good collaboration skills, and are solution-focused.

About the workplace

Hermodsdal School is a K-9 school with approximately 508 students. We work with close relationships with both students and guardians, and through regular result dialogues, we adapt our teaching to each student. Our characteristic is the fundamental belief that all students can and will succeed. We analyze, follow up, and evaluate each student's development. If something is not working, we change it to ensure the student succeeds. This means a constantly changing environment, and you need to thrive in both a fast-paced and rapidly changing context related to each student's needs. We stand for a student-centered leadership that is visible through the operational rounds the school leadership conducts every week and in the student interviews we carry out with each grade. At Hermodsdal School, there is also an adapted primary school with four classes, three subject area classes, and one subject class. Hermodsdal School's after-school program has 100 students and is characterized by a good pedagogical environment that allows students' interests and curiosity to be at the center. The after-school programs also work with continuous follow-up of goals and pedagogical planning.
