Social Worker for Foster Care in Järva

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Welcome to us

We are looking for a social worker for the foster care in Järva.

Do you want to help develop our foster care services to create safe and stable conditions for children and youth? Then you are warmly welcome to apply!

The foster care works with children and youth aged 0–21 years who are placed in foster homes. The foster care team consists of 33 employees across two units with close collaboration. As an employee, you will primarily be guided in your daily work by your team leader and be part of a workgroup with a total of eight social workers.

We offer

In our unit, we have an accessible and present management that supports you in your daily work. We offer good opportunities for professional development based on your individual needs, and all workgroups receive regular external supervision. There are also several workgroups to engage in based on interests, such as an APT group, a well-being group that works to promote a good working environment and community, as well as a group focusing on external collaboration. As an employee with us, you have access to wellness benefits and the opportunity to take advantage of favorable offers from several gym chains and swimming pools. Read more about our benefits here.

Your role

As a social worker with us, you have an important mission: to follow up on the child's care and safety, and to collaborate with the child's parents and other networks, the foster home, school, and health care. You are responsible for investigating applications and handling reports of concern, in close collaboration with a colleague who has a particular focus on foster homes, including through supervision, recruitment, and financial matters. We conduct at least four follow-up visits per year for each placed child.

Our foster homes are primarily located in Stockholm County, but also in other parts of the country, which means that the work includes regular travel, sometimes even longer trips. Together with your colleagues and management, you are also expected to actively contribute to the development work within foster care.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in social work
  • The ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish

It is an advantage if you have experience in public authority work, preferably in the area of children and youth.

To succeed in this role, you are flexible and have a good ability to build trusting relationships. You are structured, have a holistic view, and collaborate well with others, which is particularly important as the work is done in close cooperation between child welfare workers and foster care workers. Since we work in a politically governed organization, it is important that you understand what this means and how it affects your daily work. As a person, you are attentive, able to empathize with others' perspectives, and show a commitment that is evident in your work and inspires others. We place great emphasis on the above personal competencies and skills.

Other

We recruit without a personal letter in this recruitment to strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role. When assessing your application, we will only consider your CV and a number of questions you will need to answer when applying for the position. We ask that you respond concretely and succinctly to the questions, and that there is a clear connection between your answers and your CV. The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competencies and thus counteracting discrimination.
