About the Defense Staff Support Unit
The Defense Staff supports the Supreme Commander in processing and preparing matters at the military strategic level, ensuring that decisions made by the authority's management are implemented, followed up, and reported back. Furthermore, the Defense Staff Support Unit has overall responsibility for directing and following up the Armed Forces' logistics and material supply, development, procurement, maintenance, and decommissioning of infrastructure, as well as the Armed Forces' supply flows and planning of host nation support.
Main Responsibilities
As a staff assistant at the Defense Staff Support Unit, you will have a holistic perspective and participate in the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of work meetings and matters. You will primarily support the Support Unit's staff department, but the role also involves a lot of contact and collaboration with the unit's other departments. A central aspect of the staff service will be the analysis and distribution of incoming service tasks to the departments within the unit. You will have a supportive role in both the departments' and the unit's work and development. This support consists of administrative tasks such as calendar bookings, ordering office supplies, preparation, and compilation of materials in various management systems.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Completed Basic Military Training (GMU) or basic training with conscription in the Swedish Armed Forces
- Complete high school education with passing grades
- Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
- Experience working with the Microsoft Office suite

MERITORIOUS
- Experience in administrative work
- Completed staff service training
- Experience as a staff assistant
- Group leader training from conscription/basic training
- Experience with FM management support systems (Prio, Vidar, SWECCIS, ISUS, Sharepoint)
- Experience from previous or current employment within the Armed Forces
- Experience from work in other government agencies
- Driver's license
Other
Employment type: GSS/K. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority. Employment rate: Full-time. Work location: Stockholm. Start date: By agreement.

At the Headquarters, the Supreme Commander and the Director General are located. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. As of 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, operations management, military intelligence and security service, as well as the Headquarters' staff department and independent supervisory units.
Employment with us means placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. A security check with a background check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment also includes an obligation to be assigned to war duties. The implications of this vary depending on the type of position.
