About the Position
At the Military Academy, cadets are trained for the officer profession. The academic education is provided by the Swedish Defence University (FHS) on behalf of the government. One of the missions of the Military Academy Karlberg is to support FHS in the training of cadets, which is carried out by the cadet battalion. This includes providing cadets with food and accommodation as well as conducting the exercises planned by FHS in the course activities. In addition to the education provided by FHS, the Military Academy Karlberg and the cadet battalion also conduct their own training of cadets for a future in the Armed Forces. Support for the Swedish Defence University and education mainly comes from the cadet battalion, which is one of several units at Karlberg.
The position involves placement at the cadet battalion's staff in the planning department, with the main task of coordinating the battalion's common activities and support for the various courses of the Swedish Defence University within the framework of the Officer Program, OP. The role of planning officer involves long-term planning and coordination of the battalion's activities. The planning department works largely in project form with individual responsibility for each project. This may involve responsibility for planning, execution, and collaboration with other units as well as other authorities. The work requires independence, the ability to take initiative, and make decisions.
Job Responsibilities
- As an exercise leader, plan and execute the cadet battalion's larger exercises. For example, winter exercise, combat training, and performance exercise.
- The position requires collaboration both internally within the Armed Forces and externally with other authorities, including FHS.
- Coordinate various resources in the form of both equipment, personnel, and training locations.
- Staff member and support the battalion in daily operations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Approved officer/specialist officer training - OF1/SO6 (minimum Lt/Öserg)
- Experience working in the Armed Forces' operational support systems
- Experience working in MS Office
Personal Qualities
You have a good ability to work independently and drive your own projects in the long term. You take high responsibility for your own and the department's work and can collaborate unpretentiously with others. You have high analytical ability, even in the long term, and see opportunities instead of obstacles. You have good organization in your work and enjoy working on many things simultaneously. The ability to switch pace without losing precision in your work or your communication skills is highly valued.
Meritorious
- Experience in staff work at battalion and/or regiment level
- Experience as an exercise leader in exercises/context for company size and above
- Experience in training cadets and the Armed Forces' education system
- Experience in collaboration between authorities and within the Armed Forces
- Good ability in follow-up and evaluation of completed tasks/projects
