Swedish Armed Forces Dog Service Unit Seeks Head of Support Department

The Air Combat School (LSS) is the Air Force's joint competence center for training and development. At LSS, there are the Air Force's schools, the Air Force's development unit, and the Swedish Armed Forces Dog Service Unit. LSS plays a crucial role in the development and growth of the future Air Force.

We are currently seeking a head for the Support Department based at the Swedish Armed Forces Dog Service Unit (FHTE) and its support department in Sigtuna/Märsta. This is a managerial position with opportunities for development.

About the Unit:

FHTE is part of LSS and breeds and trains service dogs for search and patrol duties. FHTE is tasked with developing dog service and providing the Armed Forces' combat units with dogs that meet the Armed Forces' high standards. Together with dog handlers, the service dogs are trained for missions in the war organization, both nationally and internationally.

About the Position:

As the head of the support department at FHTE, you will have personnel responsibility, lead and allocate tasks within the unit's support department, and be responsible for its staff services. This includes handling and developing central dog service matters and meetings, or matters related to the unit's training or breeding department.

Your work also includes the development of FHTE as a combat unit, participation in exercises, and war planning. You will have experienced developers, case handlers, logistics leaders, caretakers, breeding managers, veterinarians, and administrators to assist you.

We believe you have a very good ability to collaborate and cooperate with FM units, schools and staffs, other government agencies, and civilian companies. In this position, you will be responsible for the department's material, equipment, and allocated budget. You will be part of the FHTE management team, and development opportunities exist to continue growing within FHTE if desired.

Travel, both nationally and internationally, is required.

Qualifications

  • Swedish officer or specialist officer degree
  • Experience in leading personnel
  • Driving license B

We expect you to be a communicative and service-oriented person who easily collaborates with others. Furthermore, you have a good ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and a pronounced sense of order. As a manager, you apply a developmental leadership style and have the ability to create a good working environment together with your employees.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Meritorious

  • Knowledge and experience of working in the PRIO and VIDAR systems
  • Experience in a managerial position with personnel responsibility
  • Experience in personnel services/personal administration
