Make a Difference. Every Day.
The Spinal Cord Injury Unit at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) is one of Sweden's leading providers of spinal cord injury care and rehabilitation. We have been entrusted by the National Board of Health and Welfare to operate as one of four nationally specialized units and are now expanding our operations to accommodate more patients from a larger part of the country.
In April 2023, we opened an acute rehabilitation medical unit at the top of Blocket with a fantastic view. We are now increasing our care capacity and are looking for an additional occupational therapist.
Our newly renovated premises create conditions for an inspiring environment where patient care with the highest quality is the focus. The unit in Lund complements the well-established operations currently located at Orup Hospital outside Höör.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We meet patients of all ages who, due to trauma or illness, have suffered a spinal cord injury or other injury that requires acute rehabilitation. Patients come to us to receive help in becoming independent based on new life circumstances. Here, you will work closely with many different professional categories in an interdisciplinary team, all focused on the patient and based on their needs. The team collaborates with the patient to create a rehabilitation plan with goals that are regularly followed up.
As an occupational therapist, your role includes assessment and training of P-ADL and I-ADL to relearn and/or find strategies in activity performance. Occupational therapy interventions have a clear activity and participation perspective and are adapted based on the individual's personal goals. Assessment/training of hand function and cognitive abilities is also part of the work, as well as testing and training with assistive devices.
Your employment begins with a guided introduction, shadowing, and training in Rehabilitation Medicine, where we also collaborate with relevant acute care within Sus and our units at Orup Hospital. You also have great opportunities to participate in continuing education, training activities, and research. We accept students from all professions and conduct multidisciplinary research within Lund and Malmö University.
For many years, we have been working systematically with quality through the accreditation organization Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), which imposes high demands on routines and continuous improvement work.
Your position is located in the rehabilitation medicine department in Lund but with close cooperation with our units at Orup Hospital as the patients' rehabilitation processes span both locations.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a licensed occupational therapist with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. You have language skills in Swedish equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's level scale. Experience in neurological rehabilitation is an advantage. If you also have experience in interdisciplinary teamwork and rehabilitation methodology, we see it as a benefit.
As we work closely with patients and their relatives and very closely with each other in the team, it is important that you find it easy to collaborate and cooperate with people around you. You who apply have a desire to work person-centered with a holistic view and easily make contact with actors in the patient's care chain. As a person, you are a team player who easily sees solutions and enjoys patient-centered work. Furthermore, you have good pedagogical skills, easily take your own initiatives, are engaged, and contribute to a good work climate. You are also used to working independently and taking responsibility. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
In this recruitment, we are working with ongoing selection. We warmly welcome your application!
