The Cardiology department in Lund is a central part of heart care at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) and plays an important role in the care of patients with acute and chronic heart disease. Our operations consist of two wards, a cardiac intensive care unit, three outpatient clinics, and advanced laboratories in echocardiography, electrophysiology, hemodynamics, coronary angiography/PCI, GUCH and valve interventions, as well as pacemaker surgeries.

The cardiology department is profiled into three main streams: coronary, arrhythmia, and heart failure and valves. The latter stream includes heart transplantation activities, PAH, and GUCH. We staff five on-call lines and are also part of acute and internal medicine on-call services. The medical team consists of specialist cardiologists and a varying number of residents from our own and other specialties, located in both Malmö and Lund.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a committed and experienced senior physician in advanced arrhythmia treatment, including ablation and pacemaker treatment, for the Cardiology unit at Skåne University Hospital in Lund.

As a specialist senior physician, you are a key person in the operation with independent responsibility for performing ablation and pacemaker treatment. In collaboration with our experienced teams, the work includes:

• In addition to the interventional work, you will have outpatient activities focused on patients with advanced arrhythmia issues before or after ablation, pacemaker, and ICD.
• To some extent, ward work and consultation assignments within the hospital may also occur. You will work closely with colleagues in electrophysiology, heart failure, thoracic surgery, and clinical physiology, and collaboration with the pediatric heart clinic occurs regularly.
• We hope you will actively contribute to operational development, both by driving improvement work within the pacemaker area and by participating in the strategic work surrounding national highly specialized care (NHV). You are also expected to participate in the education of residents, fellows, and other staff within cardiology.
• There is an opportunity to combine the position with clinical research, development projects, or participation in national registries and studies in the field of implantable cardiac stimulation treatment.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who apply are a licensed physician with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare and have:

• specialist competence in Cardiology
• language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale
• completed or planned course in clinical supervision
• full-time service of at least five years (documented effective time)
• clinical skill and independence within Cardiology
• several years of experience in ablation, pacemaker, and ICD treatment
• documented practical experience in ablation and pacemaker surgery
• completed or planned clinical supervisor training
• documented teaching and supervisory merits
• disputation, associate professorship is meritorious

Disputation and/or specialist examination can be credited for a total of six months of clinical service.

At a university hospital unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and education. This can be acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students as well as physicians in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application the completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience in supervision, and teaching at various levels.
