Do you want meaningful work that makes a difference in people's lives?
Welcome to the municipality that is far from average!
Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 inhabitants and over 6,400 employees.
The Culture and Leisure Administration makes Botkyrka healthier, stronger, and more creative! We ensure that there is a rich cultural and sports life with many different leisure activities to choose from in the municipality. We contribute to vibrant and safe living environments and enable Botkyrka residents to develop their interests. With meaningful leisure, people feel better, which strengthens public health. With over 200 employees, we are responsible for libraries, swimming pools, cultural schools, art halls, open leisure activities, sports facilities, and public health parks.
The operational area is one of three operational areas in the Culture and Leisure Administration. The operation is responsible for issues concerning open leisure activities for grades 4 - 9. The open leisure activities are free, open meeting places aimed at creating meaningful leisure for children and young people. In Botkyrka, there are eleven leisure clubs for children in grades 4 - 6 and eight youth centers for young people in grades 7 - 9. Four of the leisure clubs are run by the municipality, and the others are run by four different providers from Botkyrka's civil society.
The Position and Responsibilities
We are looking for four part-time youth leaders for the Culture and Leisure Administration's unit for young people in high school.
Our goal is to create a safe, creative, and meaningful leisure time together with young people, where their ideas, engagement, and development are at the center. Together, we build an operation that strengthens young people's health, optimism for the future, and participation. As a youth leader, you work closely with young people in high school and are an important part of shaping the daily content of the operation. The assignment involves strengthening participation, creating meaningful contexts, and supporting young people's own initiatives in areas such as music, culture, sports, media, and democracy/influence. You meet young people both in the heart of Alby and out in the municipality where you build relationships, make contacts, and engage them in the operation. You collaborate closely with colleagues in the Culture and Leisure Administration, the Labor Market and Adult Education Administration, and the Health and Care Administration, and you are an important part of the municipality's joint efforts for good growing conditions.
Your Main Responsibilities:
- coach and mentor young people in their ideas, projects, and activities
- plan and implement events, workshops, and activities in areas such as culture, sports, music, or media
- work proactively in various areas of the municipality to reach and engage young people
- contribute to networks, collaboration groups, and development work
- conduct simple project planning, risk analyses, and financial calculations for activities and events.
- guide young people to other services or support in the municipality as needed.
- mentor and lead workshops and other educational initiatives on issues related to participation and democracy.
We are recruiting two youth leaders at 75 percent and two at 50 percent. The work is scheduled during the day and three evenings a week, and weekend work may occur. The position is based in the heart of Alby, but you will also work in other places in the municipality where young people are and where the operation needs to be visible.
We Offer You
With us, you will have the opportunity to develop together with the operation and be an important part of creating meaningful contexts for young people. Our work is based on participation and co-creation, and as a youth leader, you will be a central person in shaping processes where young people can grow, influence, and take space.
You will use your creativity, curiosity, and engagement to inspire young people to become active in their leisure time and dare to try new ideas. You will be part of an engaged team where you together set the direction for the operation and drive it forward. We offer a large scope for action where you can both create recurring activities and plan larger events that gather many young people. Here, there is an opportunity to make a real difference — and to develop yourself in an environment where ideas are valued and where a lot is happening.
You Who Apply to Us
We are looking for someone with relevant post-secondary education in social work, political science, culture, or sports. Alternatively, you have acquired equivalent competence through long and documented relevant work experience. You also have previous experience working in youth activities.
Other Requirements:
- Experience leading groups and activities.
- Experience planning, leading, and implementing public activities aimed at young people.
- Knowledge of young people's living conditions, locally and/or nationally.
- Experience working with participation, equality, and gender equality.
- Knowledge of norm criticism, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and human rights.
We see the following as meritorious:
- Experience working in a municipal organization.
- Good local knowledge of Botkyrka.
- Established and relevant networks connected to the target group.
- Experience in cultural or creative expressions, e.g., cultural production or music production.
- Driving license B.
We are looking for someone who is creative, confident, and relationship-building in their interactions with young people. You take initiative, start activities, and drive them forward with engagement and self-motivation. You meet young people with calmness and attentiveness and have a genuine desire to help, support, and find solutions together with them. You collaborate well with others, listen to different perspectives, and handle conflicts constructively. You take responsibility for your tasks, plan your work, and maintain structure even when a lot is happening at the same time.
We see that you have a deep interest in sports, culture, or youth democracy issues and that you want to lead activities based on the areas where you have knowledge and passion.
For positions in the Culture and Leisure Administration in Botkyrka Municipality, you as a prospective employee will undergo a background check.
