Do you want meaningful work that makes a difference in people's lives?

Welcome to the municipality that is far from average!

Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 inhabitants and over 6,400 employees.

The Culture and Leisure Administration makes Botkyrka healthier, stronger, and more creative! We ensure that there is a rich cultural and sports life with many different leisure activities to choose from in the municipality. We contribute to vibrant and safe living environments and enable Botkyrka residents to develop their interests. With meaningful leisure time, people feel better, which strengthens public health. With over 200 employees, we are responsible for libraries, swimming pools, cultural schools, art halls, open leisure activities, sports facilities, and public health parks.

The operational area is one of three operational areas within the Culture and Leisure Administration. The operation is responsible for issues related to open leisure activities for grades 4 - 9. The open leisure activities are free, open meeting places aimed at creating meaningful leisure time for children and youth. In Botkyrka, there are eleven leisure clubs for children in grades 4 - 6 and eight youth centers for young people in grades 7 - 9. Four of the leisure clubs are run by the municipality, and the others are run by four different providers from Botkyrka's civil society.

The position and job responsibilities

We are looking for a team leader for the Culture and Leisure Administration, the Young in High School unit.

The task is to lead the daily operations for young people aged 16 - 19 and ensure a safe, inclusive, and meaningful meeting place. The goal is to give young people real influence over their leisure time and strengthen their participation, development, and belief in the future.

As a team leader, you provide operational support to the unit manager and are a key person in the operation. You lead the youth leaders in their daily work, plan, coordinate, and follow up on operations, and ensure quality and compliance with guidelines. The role combines presence in meetings with children and youth with structured work around planning, scheduling, documentation, and development. You collaborate with schools, guardians, associations, and other relevant actors in the area.

Your main job responsibilities:

  • lead and coordinate the daily work in the operation and provide support, guidance, and feedback to leisure leaders/youth leaders
  • plan schedules, allocate tasks, and hold regular check-ins and meetings
  • actively participate in activities and programs for children and youth
  • contribute to planning, implementation, and follow-up of activities, holiday programs, and events
  • ensure systematic follow-up, documentation, and quality work according to assignments, guidelines, and values
  • collaborate with schools, guardians, associations, and other actors for a safe and inspiring leisure environment.

We offer you

With us, you will be part of Young Leisure, a meeting place for children and youth where safety, creativity, and participation are at the center. Together with the unit manager, youth leaders, and our partners, you create an environment that inspires and engages. Our culture is based on presence, trust, and a shared commitment to providing children and youth with meaningful and developing leisure time.

As a team leader, you will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the operation and develop your own leadership as the operation grows. You will have the space to drive initiatives that strengthen youth participation and create conditions for new working methods and ideas. With us, you will be part of an operation that values diversity, safety, and community engagement - where your work contributes to making a concrete difference for children and youth every day.

You who are applying to us

We are looking for someone with relevant post-secondary education in social work, political science, culture, or sports. Alternatively, you have acquired equivalent competence through long and documented relevant work experience. You also have previous experience coordinating, leading, or mentoring colleagues.

Other requirements:

  • Many years of experience working with young people in high school within open leisure activities or another educational environment.
  • Experience leading groups and activities.
  • Knowledge of young people's living conditions, locally and/or nationally.
  • Experience working with participation, equality, and gender equality.
  • Knowledge of norm criticism, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and human rights.

Meritorious:

  • Experience working in a municipal organization.
  • Good local knowledge of Botkyrka.

You are confident in your leadership and create clarity in everyday life for both the team and the children and youth who come to the operation. With calmness and attentiveness, you build trust, keep the work together when the pace is high, and ensure that assignments and routines are followed. You work in a structured manner: planning, distributing, and following up so that the operation becomes both predictable and developing.

At the same time, you have a clear results focus and translate goals into concrete activities that are noticeable in the operation. You prioritize correctly, drive the work forward, and take responsibility when something needs to happen. Collaboration with colleagues and partners is important to you - you listen, create participation, and get the group with you. With your presence and ability to motivate others, you contribute to a safe and inspiring environment where children and youth have influence over their leisure time.

For positions in the Culture and Leisure Administration in Botkyrka Municipality, you as a prospective employee will undergo a background check.
