The Revenue Department is one of the four operational departments of the Swedish Customs. Our main operations take place in Sundsvall, Stockholm, Malmö, and Gothenburg. The areas of activity within the Revenue Department are permits, post-control, and revenue monitoring.

Revenue monitoring is the part of the Revenue Department that is responsible for monitoring ongoing customs procedures, refunds and waivers of customs duties, amendments to customs declarations after release, customs surcharges, and investigations of non-compliance with obligations under customs legislation. In total, approximately 60 officials work within Revenue Monitoring, distributed across four groups.

You will be organizationally part of Revenue Monitoring in Malmö.

About the Position

In revenue monitoring, we have a broad area of work. Your tasks as an operational officer may include checking customs declarations for goods subject to customs regulations, investigating non-compliance that has arisen in connection with importation, transit, or storage procedures, handling requests for alerts within transit or export, and deciding on administrative sanctions. The officer ensures that companies and individuals comply with customs regulations and makes many authority decisions daily.

As an operational officer, you work very independently, and the work is performed in several electronic systems. The job involves a lot of telephone contact with freight forwarders, companies, individuals, and other authorities. The work also involves constantly new questions and situations, which means that the officer needs to be both flexible and solution-oriented. We work both in groups and individually. The working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

When the employment begins, you will undergo basic training that provides you with fundamental knowledge of concepts and principles within the handling of import and export goods flows. Depending on the setup, the basic training will be combined with department-specific workplace training primarily at your place of employment, but it can also take place in another location.

Travel and overnight stays may occur in the position.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed secondary education with passing grades in Mathematics B/2, English B/6, and Swedish B/2, as well as at least 3 years of documented experience in customs-related work over the past 5 years
  • Experience from working with import customs declarations
  • Very good collaborative skills
  • Good ability to express oneself well in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
  • Swedish driving license, class B for passenger cars

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Completed qualified vocational training or higher vocational education in forwarding, logistics, economics, law, or alternatively studies of at least 60 credits / 90 higher education credits focused on forwarding, logistics, economics, law, or political science
  • Work experience from operations dealing with logistics, forwarding, or international trade
  • Experience in compliance with customs legislation
  • Experience in investigation work
  • Experience in service work or similar tasks, such as customer contact work
  • Good IT skills
