We are now looking for you who are in medical training and interested in working as a substitute doctor or medical assistant within General Psychiatry or Specialist Psychiatry during the period of weeks 24-32 with an introduction in week 24. We are seeking substitute doctors and medical assistants for our outpatient services in Lindesberg, Karlskoga, Hallsberg, and Örebro, as well as inpatient care in Örebro. If interested, there may be opportunities to take on shifts in Örebro and to work hours during the fall or holidays after this period.

General Psychiatry consists of outpatient and inpatient care and is one of four areas within the Psychiatry Department. The department has general psychiatric clinics in Hallsberg, Karlskoga, Lindesberg, and Örebro. Additionally, there are the Affective Clinic, Neuropsychiatric Assessment Unit, and Young Adults Clinic in Örebro, as well as the Brain Stimulation Unit. Inpatient care has 2 wards in Örebro and also operates SPOT (Specialist Psychiatric Nursing Team) in Lindesberg, Karlskoga, and Örebro as a bridge between inpatient and outpatient care.

Specialist Psychiatry provides addiction care and psychosis care in Örebro, both outpatient and inpatient. The outpatient and inpatient care for psychosis is located at Karlahuset in Örebro. The Addiction Center's outpatient services and Maria Ungdom are centrally located in Örebro, while the LARO clinic is at USÖ. The Addiction Center's inpatient ward is also at USÖ. Within Specialist Psychiatry, there are also specialized clinics (DBT, trauma, eating disorders, and the Development Unit for psychotherapy and psychological treatment).

In addition, the Psychiatry Department in Örebro Region also has the areas of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, and Operational and Management Support.

As a substitute doctor or medical assistant, all tasks are performed under the supervision of an experienced physician and should be seen as a form of training position. You will have the opportunity to further develop your skills within the medical profession through commonly occurring tasks in psychiatric outpatient and inpatient care.

Preferably completed T9 in medical education in Sweden or completed psychiatric course in EU education. To work in the summer of 2026 as a substitute doctor, one must also have completed all credits up to T10, and for European education, a special appointment is required.

Swedish corresponding to level C1 on the Council of Europe’s scale is a requirement. If applicants from EU education are hired, they need to apply for a special appointment themselves via the National Board of Health and Welfare after receiving their contract.
