In Region Örebro County, there is a university hospital (USÖ) and two county hospitals; Karlskoga and Lindesberg hospitals. At all hospitals, AT doctors have their own primary on-call duties with good backup support from experienced colleagues. At USÖ, there is also a more experienced colleague present in the primary on-call team.

AT Doctor for Region Örebro County

All hospitals in the county offer AT with a traditional focus, which includes a total of 18 months divided into the following areas: internal medicine and surgical specialties together make up 9 months, psychiatry 3 months, and general medicine 6 months. The general medicine placement is either continuous at the end or divided, with part of the primary care placement at the beginning of the AT.

In addition to traditional AT, we offer two different focuses:

• AT with a focus on pedagogy is only offered at USÖ and consists of a total of 21 months, of which 3 months are allocated for pedagogical work. The educational components during AT are mainly county-wide. AT begins with an introductory week with lectures and practical training that are beneficial to have at the start, regardless of which placement is the first. The current training program also includes three training weeks linked to the medicine, surgery, and primary care blocks. During the psychiatry placement, the corresponding education is scheduled for one afternoon a week. In addition, full-day seminars are currently offered based on the AT goals in palliative medicine, ethics, leadership, and gender as well as insurance medicine.

To begin employment, a medical degree is required, and for those who studied abroad, a decision from the National Board of Health and Welfare regarding eligibility to do AT is also required. Experience working in Swedish healthcare is an advantage. We place great emphasis on personal qualities and are looking for future specialists for Region Örebro County.
