About Us

The Årsta Gård Foundation runs a special needs primary and secondary school with a Waldorf pedagogical approach, located in southern Stockholm.

We are beautifully situated in a large park by Årstaviken. In this large park, we grow plants, our chickens roam, and we conduct much of the outdoor education that is the hallmark of our school. The teaching is very practical, as we believe that hands-on learning enhances students' ability to further develop their thinking in theoretical education. The school day has a clear, structured rhythm, as does the entire school year. Great emphasis is placed on communication, allowing students to express themselves and have their voices heard based on their individual circumstances.

As we prepare for the new school year, we are now looking for substitutes who want to work with our wonderful students. This position is suitable for those who may be studying remotely and can step in during the day when regular staff are off.

Job Description

As a teaching assistant, you will be with one or more students throughout their day during lessons, and then during after-school care/short-term supervision. You will largely serve as a link between the students and their environment. You are a calm and secure person who meets the students based on their needs and circumstances, working to ensure that everyone feels included. You take the initiative to motivate, inspire, and stimulate students in their development. You will go on fun excursions, play in our large park, watch movies, sing and dance, making the summer the best it can be! You will assist students with communication, personal hygiene (in some cases), mobility, meal situations, and social interactions.

Qualifications

Desirable:

  • Experience in similar work
  • Experience with the school's target group
  • Experience working with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication)
  • Experience working with visual supports
  • Experience working in a low-arousal manner
  • Experience in CPR
  • Experience with Waldorf education and/or therapeutic pedagogy
  • Driver's license (B)

Since the position is at a school, you must be able to provide an acceptable extract from the criminal record. This can be ordered here: https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/
