Nurse for Dialysis Unit and Ward

Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equitable welfare and ensure that research and innovation yield results.

Within the health and medical care administration, primary care, dental care, and hospital care are gathered in a common administration and organized into county and local healthcare areas. The local healthcare area of Skellefteå includes the Emergency Department, Medical and Geriatric Clinic, Rehabilitation Center, Psychiatric Clinic, 1177, and primary care in Skellefteå and Norsjö. Together, these aim to provide good and close care.

The Medical and Geriatric Clinic is part of the local healthcare area of Skellefteå and is one of the largest clinics at Skellefteå Hospital with approximately 300 employees. The operations consist of both outpatient and inpatient care with a wide range of different specialties. The clinic's beds are distributed according to medical and geriatric orientations. The majority of admissions are acute and occur via the emergency department. The outpatient operations consist of medicine, geriatrics, and dialysis clinics. Within the medicine clinic, there are also day care services and a physiological laboratory. The clinic also includes a Research Unit.

We are now looking for a nurse with a combination of dialysis clinic and ward experience. The dialysis clinic in Skellefteå has 17 treatment places, of which 3 are part of the self-dialysis concept where the patient, with the support of staff, learns to manage their own treatment. There is also a kidney clinic within the operation. At the dialysis unit, nurses, nursing assistants, and doctors work together. There is also close collaboration with colleagues in medical technology. Our wards have different specialties; stroke, heart/lung, hematology/diabetes/kidney diseases, and geriatrics/psychogeriatrics. All wards also care for patients in general medicine. There is an opportunity to choose which ward/specialty you are interested in. During the summer, you will work full-time in dialysis, and for the rest of the year, you will combine work in dialysis and the ward.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and engagement that makes people feel safe.

As a nurse in the dialysis clinic, you are responsible for performing dialysis treatments. During your shift, you work together with a colleague and are responsible for 4 - 5 patients. In the unit, we work in teams, closely with patients over a long period. Self-care is an activity we focus on to create independent patients who have good knowledge of their illness and self-care. Your tasks also include providing information and education to patients. When you work in dialysis, you are the responsible nurse for a number of patients. This responsibility means that you have overall responsibility for treatment, planning, and rounds.

In your role as a nurse on the ward, you are an important part of the close teamwork. Together with other professional categories, you work from a holistic perspective with the patient in focus. The work offers great variety in terms of content and pace. As a nurse, you ensure the patients' medical and specific care needs. Based on this, the actions to be taken are planned and prioritized. In your role as a nurse, you need to have the ability to lead and motivate your colleagues to create a good working environment that contributes to providing patients with quality care.

Orientation in both dialysis and the ward is planned individually based on previous experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a licensed nurse. Experience in dialysis and previous work in a medical ward or other acute care is an advantage.

You have a good ability to collaborate in teams consisting of different professional categories, have a good ability to work independently, and are accustomed to organizing and structuring your time and tasks.

As a person, you enjoy varied tasks that include both patient contacts and technical tasks. You have the ability to see the patient as an individual and are attentive to their unique needs to provide the best possible care and response.
