Realgymnasiet in Örebro offers the Nature Management Program with specializations in Animal Care, Equestrian Studies, and Nature Tourism. The school started in 2020 and currently has about 150 students. Read more about us at Örebro | Realgymnasiet (https://www.realgymnasiet.se/skolor/orebro).

We are looking for someone who wants to combine the roles of Mentor and Career Counselor.

As a mentor at Realgymnasiet, you will work with the development of a student group and be part of the student health team. You will collaborate closely with teachers and student health professionals to strengthen students' learning, personal development, and social situations. An important part of the role is to contribute to students' employability and prepare them well for further studies and lifelong learning.

In this role, you will coach students through motivational conversations, goal setting, and future planning. You will support them in study planning and study techniques, ensure that study plans are current and follow the program's credit plan, and handle administrative tasks such as attendance and absence tracking.

You will also work with the implementation and follow-up of the school's action plans, rules of conduct, routines, values, and social activities. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the school's staff. This includes participation in student care work, contact with guardians, planning and conducting mentoring sessions, development talks, parent meetings, and more. As a mentor, you will have a holistic perspective with the student in focus.

As a career counselor, you will work with students both individually and in groups. You will support students in their choices within upper secondary school and for future studies and career paths. You will coordinate the school's work with career guidance based on the curriculum and the principal's career guidance plan, with the goal of providing students with well-founded choices.

The work is carried out in close cooperation with other educational staff to strengthen students' goal fulfillment.

You will meet students in grades 1-3.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, we see that you have:

• Completed pedagogical university or college education
• Previous experience in upper secondary school.

It is advantageous if you have:

• Degree from the Career Counseling Program
• Experience in student health work

We also welcome candidates with contacts or experience in any of the fields of animal care, veterinary care, horses, dogs, or nature tourism.

You are confident in both roles and possess the knowledge and practical skills required. You can engage and challenge students, have a good understanding of the school's mission as well as the current curriculum and other governing documents. You collaborate well, build relationships, and dare to handle difficult conversations when necessary.
