About the Position

As a special educator, you will be part of the school's student health team and collaborate with other professionals in the school's remedial, preventive, and promoting student health work. You will work closely with the school's educators and also meet with guardians as needed. As a special educator, you will work towards an accessible learning environment at the individual, group, and organizational levels. You will assess, coordinate, and document students in need of special support. The work is conducted internally at the school and in collaboration with external actors such as the central student health team. It is important that you have good knowledge of students' development and learning, as well as the ability to lead and coach other professional groups around the student.

You should be able to conduct educational assessments, design action plans, follow up, and evaluate implemented measures. You demonstrate good knowledge of the scientific basis of the field and insight into current research and development work, as well as knowledge of the relationship between science and proven experience. You have in-depth knowledge of children's and adolescents' development and learning and work based on applicable governing documents and their significance for professional practice.

Examples of Responsibilities:

• Work preventively and promote, as well as follow up and evaluate implemented measures together with those involved at the organizational, group, and individual levels.
• Conduct educational assessments at the organizational, group, and individual levels regarding the need for special support.
• Together with school management, the student health team, and the school's other staff, you will work for an accessible and good learning environment for the children/students.
• Be responsible for being a qualified conversation partner and guide teachers/school staff and initiate the right interventions in collaboration with other professional groups based on students' needs.
• Independently lead and support the development of the educational work to meet the needs of all children/students.
• Be familiar with and follow the organization's applicable laws, policies, and routines.
• Work and document in the operational systems that exist.

About the Workplace

Norrbyskolan is a F-6 school beautifully located next to Venaskogen in the northern part of central Örebro. Here, students from preschool to grade 6 attend. The school has about 670 students and the staff group consists of about 90 employees. Norrbyskolan is operated as an intrapreneurship, which means a form of greater freedom and responsibility regarding finances, budgets, and personnel issues. The school's prioritized development areas are language-developing working methods with a focus on reading, preventive and promoting safety work, and an effort to become a certified Generation Pep school.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who wants to guide and support educators in our operations and also have external contacts, which of course requires you to communicate clearly and be a good listener. You will also have close cooperation with guardians, with whom we believe you can easily build trust by being outgoing and maintaining relationships. You are open to new working methods, a creative problem solver, and experienced in working with special educational methods, such as sign language support.

Requirements:

• Teaching license with authorization to teach in primary school, or an equivalent qualifying degree that entitles you to a teaching license.
• Special educator degree 90 credits.

Meritorious:

• Experience working with students in need of special support.
• Experience guiding teachers.
