Committed Preschool Teacher at Österängen

Are you a committed preschool teacher who is particularly passionate about values and the belief in the competent child? Now you have the opportunity to join us at Österängen, warmly welcome your application!

About the Position

Welcome to Österängen! Here you will meet colleagues with extensive experience, a strong sense of community, and a shared commitment to the children.

At the preschool, we work to ensure that children can play and learn in a stimulating environment where we aim to spark their wonder. We have a co-researching approach where children and educators together explore questions, phenomena, materials, and theories. The teaching is often project-oriented, and we work with the children in smaller groups to create calm, closeness, and good conditions for learning. Collaboration with guardians is close and based on dialogue and trust.

Our approach is attentive and conscious, focusing on guiding interaction (ICDP). Language is a natural part of our everyday life, and we spend a lot of time on literature, reading aloud, and language play, inspired by the Before Bornholm model. To create participation and accessibility for all children, we use support signs and visual aids daily.

We work systematically with our quality assurance system (SKA), where teaching is followed up, analyzed, and developed, and we document children's learning in Unikum.

Outdoor activities and movement are important parts of our everyday life, and the children often spend time outside. In the future, we will continue to develop our outdoor area, and it is a plus if you enjoy helping to shape the educational outdoor environment.

We organize the work so that staff largely follow the children's groups over time, which means that you will work with different ages as the children grow older.

Examples of Responsibilities:

  • be familiar with and follow the curriculum, laws, policies, and routines
  • lead, organize, plan, implement, and develop teaching
  • be responsible for documenting, following up, analyzing, and developing education
  • use methods and approaches in education based on scientific grounds and proven experience
  • work to ensure that each child and group’s needs are met by applying a democratic approach
  • provide a good environment for care, development, play, and learning
  • be responsible for the content, design, and implementation of development discussions
  • work and document in the operational system

About the Workplace

Österängen Preschool is located in fresh premises at the Österport block. The preschool is on two levels, integrated into one of the residential buildings, and consists of four departments. The younger children are in the Lingon and Blåbär departments, which work together. The older children are in the Hallon and Björnbär departments, which also collaborate and meet daily in the shared studio. Our outdoor area is currently undergoing renovation, where we are involved in shaping the design.

We have our own kitchen where our chef is careful to ensure that the ingredients are of good quality and strives for organically grown produce. During the mornings, children and staff can smell the cooking and bread baking.
