Student Coordinator with School Counseling Duties
Do you want to be part of a team where we take shared responsibility for our students' future? We are looking for someone who is, or wants to become, a highly engaged student coordinator with school counseling duties. You have high expectations for our students and are passionate about working with students in introductory programs.
About the Position
The position of student coordinator with us is a shared role that combines two assignments: student coordinator and school counselor. The working hours are distributed relatively evenly between the assignments, but a slightly larger portion is dedicated to the role of student coordinator – therefore, that is the role you will be hired for.
As a student coordinator with school counseling duties, you will be part of our student social team in the introductory programs. Here, you will meet young people with a great need for support and guidance from trusted adults. You will have good opportunities to influence your workday and develop the assignment based on the students' needs. A workday can include everything from motivating young people to come to school and supporting them in their studies, to participating in networking meetings or ending the day with a gym visit together with a student. The needs of the youth will guide your work.
The school counseling duties in the position involve conducting support, motivation, and crisis conversations with students and guardians, as well as participating in networking work around students. You contribute a psychosocial perspective to the school's development and work preventively to create safety and good conditions for learning.
Welcome to enrich us with your openness, joy, competence, and courage!
Examples of Responsibilities:
- Guidance and support to students in social interaction and studies, as well as conducting support, motivation, and crisis conversations
- Participation in creating a safe school environment and actively participating in the school's safety team
- Preventive work and follow-up of incidents and conflicts through presence and dialogue
- Mapping social situations and contributing a psychosocial perspective to the school's development
- Collaboration with school management, student health, teachers, guardians, and external actors to increase goal fulfillment
- Documentation in operational systems and compliance with applicable laws, policies, and routines
About the Workplace

Within the introductory programs, there are about 350 students who are not yet eligible for national high school programs. We offer individual alternatives (IMA) and language introduction (IMS). The structure, content, and placement of the education are tailored to each student's individual needs. Read more at orebro.se/virginskagymnasiet (https://orebro.se/virginskagymnasiet).
The introductory programs are part of the High School and Labor Market Administration. Here, 1,400 employees work in a variety of roles to provide young people and adults in Örebro with the same opportunities for education and self-sufficiency. The administration includes high school and adapted high school, national high school for the deaf and hard of hearing, municipal adult education and Swedish for immigrants, municipal labor market initiatives, social assistance, Örebro partnerships, and land surveying. For you as an employee, this means we can offer you great opportunities for professional development in a creative and varied environment across many different operations.
Qualifications
In the role of student coordinator, you are expected to be engaged and have an easy time building good relationships. You contribute to safety and motivation in the group and have a good understanding of how people learn as well as different individual needs and conditions. You have a professional approach, see the whole picture, and can prioritize among tasks.
Furthermore, you remain calm even in pressured situations and stand firmly in your well-founded values. We believe you have a strong drive in your professional role, while also appreciating collaboration with all of the school's professions and actors outside of the school.
